    Hey there,

I really tried my best with my build, heres what I decided on:

    Coolermaster Elite 300
    OCZ SilentXStream 600W
    ASUS P5E HDMI
    Intel e8400
    OCZ Reaper DDR2-800 2x2gb
    Seagate 500gb 7200rpm 32mb

I'm using peripherals from an old Dell at the moment. I still have to get a flatscreen, speakers, wireless keyboard and mouse etc. I plan to also get a 4850 soon. I am also using Ubuntu as an operating system.

The trouble is my PSU is LOUD. I really put a good deal of effort into researching my parts before I shipped, but this is ridiculous. Apparently OCZ have manufactured many such PSUs with faults. My advice is stay clear!! The fan appears to be stuck on high. I currently have the case fan unplugged, have the PSU fan facing down into the case and it is cooling my entire system. The sound is driving me crazy though!

Now I have to go through the painful process of returns. Hopefully I will be able to return it in exchange for a graphics card... hopefully.

Can anyone recommend a decent power supply I can get in Dublin while I return the other one? I need to have access to my computer for work while it ships.

Fair play for sending it back, fight the good fight and don't accept loud, supposedly "silent" crap... I'm convinced half the world is deaf if this is what passes for silent.
    Unfortunately I've nothing I can reccomend :/

I've heard the OCZ ones are far from silent despite the name. Corsair are meant to be pretty good noise wise.

Seasonic or Corsair (corsair psus are built by seasonic) would come highly recommended by myself.

I have a 600W Seasonic: one of the quietest parts in my pc.
(tis mounted in the bottom chamber of my Antec p180 case and I can't hear it, my gfx card is louder)

My mate has a corsair 520W: again one of the quietest parts in his pc.
