New Build little help please

K GF's parents are getting a comp for xmas and im looking into what to get i think the budget is around 450-500.

Originally i just go straight to the dell website as they're pretty good value for the cheaper stuff but used to build computers when i was younger and thinking of doing the same.

What im asking is is it worth in that price range building or would i get better value elsewhere?

What kinda of compents will i get for this money anyone want to spec something?

Barebones built two of these before are they still good value or what are the general opinions?

Also where do people buy from used to go to ccl and overclockers but i think they're not as good as they used to be what about komplett.ie??

This is the model im looking at seems reasonably priced and can leave it pretty standard and put in graphics card later if they need it and so on.

Don't get that model if you intend putting in a "proper" gfx card get one of the higher shuttles with a 400w or a 450W psu.

EDIT: then again if it's just for parents who won't be playing games the cheapest shuttle going would be grand.

Tis purely for net only, the cpu is a 1.6ghz intel atom which is not suitable for heavy use, or watching HD movie files, but the desktop itself is dinky and comes with a versa mount so it can be mounted on the back of a standard LCD monitor.

The only real downside is that it does not have a DVD Rom drive. So an external would be required if they want to use CDs etc..

Ok its for 2 parents and two kidds 11 and 14.

It will be used basically for browsing the net and word processing music pictures you know the usual but the kids play football manager and the sims and games like that so im looking for something with a ok gfx card

So i was going for a basicish shuttle put in 2gb of ram and a decent hdd and can put in a gfx card later if needed
