Help with upcoming interview

Hi A friend of mine is hoping to do ACCA and has an interview with a practice in town very soon. But the practice he has the interview for only seem to do the ACA exams.I was wondering if its possible for trainees to chose which exams they take? Or will the firm insist on him taking ACA Thanks
