A list of the top ten manliest firearms. It is funny.

    "#8: GLOCK
The GLOCK is feared by liberals. It's called "plastic" and "ceramic" and "capable of going through airport metal detectors." If this were true, it would be the coolest gun on Earth. But these things are total lies, and serve to point out that liberals are not men, and have no honor. "

Figured the board could use some light entertainment while we wait for the FCP to tell us we're screwed.:)

Aye, of all the stuff out there, it's one of the few things I have a silly desire to try. :)

On a related note, things that you know if you own an AR15, AK-47 or Mosin-Nagant.

To be fair, no point. It's a self-defence setup. Whatever about the mag capacity, not much point hunting with the short barrel, just restricts yourself.

Not sure if it would. Did you ever see the video (downrange TV) of Todd Jarrett shooting 1000 rounds of 45ACP through a Para Ord 1911?? It's nuts :D

Jesus that Glock torture test is somethin else! No wonder they're so popular. Maybe we should show that to the politicians and explain how much we'd save on oil and cleaning patches? Maybe they'd let us keep em then, seein as how we're in a recession and all...

Thinking about getting a similar set-up, but got a raised eyebrow and a suspicious tone from my local RFD when asking about a new barrel.

My two shotguns were probably made by a guy called Jurgen who drove a Trabant sometimy line in the late sixties or early seventies ( Merkel-Suhl ). My rifle was made in October 1974 ( Anschutz .22 Hornet ) ( probably a day or two before I myself was born about 200 miles to the west of the factory ) probably by a highly skilled metal worker called Rolf who drove a Merc 240 diesel and arrived 5 minits before clocking in time at the Anschutz factory.

Are they manly ? I don't know but they haven't let me down ever.

I'll sell you mine if you want.

Works well and has been shot by a former US pistol champ! Also comes with own Peli case.

Yeah, but you've the same one as me :D
Someone in DURC or UCDRC might take it off your hands, or alternatively the Pony Club would just jump at it.

    You see that's the problem.

With a crap gun they'd get the excise and vat on the oil and the vat on the cleaning patches.

With a gun that needs no maintenance there's no extra revenue for the government.

Now that's why a glock is evil!!!!!!!!!!

What? For a 24in barrel???Perfectly legal. If he/she is worried about rifle sights, get a bead version.Sounds like the usual ignorance in the law dept again.

One should be entitled to expect better from a firearms dealer though, whatever about the guards.

Grizzly, I'm dyin to get a 24" barrel for my 870. Don't care about sights as I use a Bushnell holographic sight anyway. Where'd you get it?

I find the 28 inch is too long for rough shootin by far, and I doubt there's much of a trade off in balistics or patterns. Didn't 24/25 inch used to be more or less the standard for side by side rough shooting guns, and the popularity of clay shooting led all barrels to get a few inches longer? Deffo read that somewhere anyway, and I've seen a lot of older guns with shorter barrels.

Your RFD should be able to get one for you, unless he's like mine and thinks you're ordering an 18" cylinder bore for bank withdrawals

I'm of the same opinion, my 28" is just too unwieldy, 4" less might not sound much but it does make a big difference, esp. with an extende3d super-full choke.

PS Dimebag - how'd you mount the sights on you're 870? Drill the receiver top for mounts or what?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 205 ✭✭dimebag249

Lets not forget that there are legal uses for 18" barrels, and that owning one not strictly illegal, as far as I know you just need permission.

Jose, I got the Bushnell XLP Holosight with integral mount for 870/1100/11-87. Very good value and saves fxxkin around with mounts and rails.

Tis this lad here, but I got it on ebay:

    http://www.binoculars.com/rifle-scopes/holosight/holosightxlpmountson12gaugeremington87011001187.cfm

The Bushnells are the same technology as the EOTech, just cheaper. Basically a civilian version, made by the same crowd. My only complaint with it is the batteries don't last half as long as the EOTech or the old clunky Bushnells, but that's because they use AAA batteries which are cheap and easy to find anyway.

You could always just get a side saddle rail adaptor like the Mesa Tactical, which looks sh!t hot, but it's only extra expense and hassle, unless you think you'll want to be able to mount the sight on your rifle aswell.

I'd recommend a red dot sight anyway, they're a ball of fun!

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,041 ✭✭✭José Alaninho

Nifty lookin thing alright, great way to mount it too! I already have a red dot on my Ruger so may give this a go... cheers Dimebag ;)

PS, staying true to original topic, this would make my 870 even more manly! Hoo-rah :D

A remmy cannot live up to it's true manliness potential without a factory folding stock. It's big, ugly, physically punishing to shoot, and elite, cos it says FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT ONLY on the side. I've got a Speedfeed III on mine, it's manly in more of a ninja way than a Rambo way. Surefire tactical light forends also up the testosterone level, make the gun look like it's been working out.

The Bushnell looks too svelte to be manly, its soft curves and friendly decals make it much less manly than the EOTech... wait, I've given this way too much thought. I'll stop now.

Check out the Molot Veper 12 then.Looks like an AK 47 on steriods .12 round box mag .Pictanny rails all over it,muzzle break side folder as standard. DA...very Russian manly gun!:D

Grizzly, do you mind me askin how much you paid for your 24 inch barrel and where you got it? Is it a Remington factory barrel, also is it Rem choke?

Wouldn't mind a Vepr at all, if you know any RFD that has them in stock for a good price gimme a shout!:D

If someone thought his manliness was not up to scratch, where would this person get themselves an 870 in this fair isle and maybe some extra pimpage?

Ahem.... my friend asked me to ask you..cos I'm very manly...yeah.... GRRRR....:o:o

A man may purchase such a surrogate penis, ahem, I mean firearm here:

    http://www.shoot.ie/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_23&products_id=18&zenid=961f5b6ddb0bc63219d340d2863dc248

Accessories such as penis, damn, I mean magazine extensions and tacticool stocks may be purchased online. E-bay for stocks and most other gadgets, but for magazines you'll have to go elsewhere cos e-bay banned them. Try brownells.com but whether they'll ship to you seems to depend on the cycle of the moon or something... For ideas for tacticool shotguns try here
