Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

2009 BBC F1 Intro.... this one gets my vote!

I'm sure many of you here have already seen some of the multitude of fan-made intros for next years BBC F1 coverage that have sprung up all over YouTube the past few months. Some look pretty good, others look bloody terrible (no disrepect to the creators, of course! ;) )!

However, I came across this one last night and instantly thought, "Wow! This is pretty much bang-on!" It's definitely the best I've seen so far. In my opinion, the BBC could do a hell of a lot worse than to go with this one or something very similar.

Sure, there's one or two small details that might need changing and some polishing might need to be done here and there. For example, I'm pretty sure Bernie would insist that the programme be called 'Formula One' or 'F1' instead of 'Grand Prix', in keeping with the whole current F1/Formula 1 branding style (even if us real hardcore fans might prefer it to be called 'Grand Prix' in keeping with the previous naming convention when it was with the BBC! ;) ). Also, the BBC would probably want to use "clean" versions of the videos used throughout the intro, i.e., without the 'F1' logo in the corner. And I'd prefer the crowd noises were replaced with F1 car sounds instead, along with a nice screaming driveby noise as the car flies past at the end of the intro. But, apart from those few things, I think this intro is pretty much perfect. What do the rest of you think?

I estimate it's about 42 times better then any of the intros ITV produced over the years.

Thank christ BBC have it back, if for nothing else other then the music :D

As long as we get the music back it really doesn't matter what else they do with the title sequence.

That music made the hair stand on the back of my neck. The sequence was really good too. Much better to have action shots like that than some artsy fartsy drivers in tuxedos crap like what ITV produced.

good intro alright but it kinda looked like the lewis hamilton road show with all the clips of him.

That's more or less what it's gonna be.

For anyone wondering what the music is, I know I was for years, it's The Chain by Fleetwood Mac.

The section used by the BBC starts around 3:08 in the song.

Damn straight! As Bernie himself said when the contract was announced, "This means we finally get our music back". I think that says it all in itself! :D

The first ITV intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8Q_tNZhe8U) was definitely the best they came up with, in my opinion, and it all went downhill after that, culminating in that brutal intro they've been using the past couple of years with, as muckwarrior said, artsy fartsy images of Coulthard pretending to be 007, cars driving around casino tables and scary Chinese fellas!

Sure, that intro I posted is a bit Hamilton-centric but, as amacachi said, to a certain extent you'd have to expect that and expect that the BBC's real intro will probably be much the same. As long as the Hamilton arse-licking is confined to just the intro sequence and there isn't too much within the programme itself (unlike with ITV which could have been renamed from 'F1' to the 'We Love Lewis Show'!) then I could live with that.

I dont mind the lewis stuff but why do they need to show his girlfriend and his bloody brother. I`m surprised his dad wasnt in the clip!
Oh he was. There was a shot of the 3 of them.

I'm only surprised they didn't take it to it's logical conclusion and introduce us to his aunt and 3rd cousin twice removed.

Still better than having F1 cars shoot out of ladies armpits though...

I always liked the old FIA intro at the start of the Grand Prixs. It has a great guitar riff.
