I am in USA at the moment and my mate here just bought a D60 ... I am seriously considering buying this kit in Costco - how does this compare to prices at home? I'm guessing cheaper, but how much?

Camera and same two lens here for £479.99 sterling - £50 cashback direct from Nikon = £429.99 or about US$660. You have to email to get exact shipping but their FAQ's state that it will be not more than £35. Doesn't include the carry case or SD card.

OP same site has D60 + 18-55 lens for £297.99 - £30 cashback. Cheapest I could find, might be worthwhile asking in the Photography forum as those guys are probably more up to speed on this.

Very good deal I should think - I got the D40 with the 18-55 non-vr and 55-200vr, sb600 flash for around 850 euro (about 2 years ago though ;) )

However, I have earned about 1500 euro from my photographs so it's alright in the end :D

The photography forum is always open to new photogs - it's nice to see more Nikonians around :pac:

In relation to customs - I'm not sure of the exact law or time limits but if you take the equipment out of its packaging and use it for some time, it becomes "used" and its value becomes indeterminate.

Also, the law allows persons to import a certain value of goods into the country without tax if the goods are travelling with the person.

Not legal advice, but you should be fine. And I have no specialised training in customs and duties taxation law so take this with a large pinch of salt ;)
