Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cold Bridging in Timber Frame Construction

Something I've been curious about for a while.

    Consider the following:
    140mm insulated stud frame.
    60 mm insulated service cavity.

Is the service cavity actually bridged for the sake of u-value calculations?

The reason I am wondering this is because the 60mm battens will be perpendicular to the studs. I am assuming that this will perform better than if you simply had a 200mm stud with no insulated service cavity.

Basically I suppose I am wondering if you treat each individual layer as if they are the only layer of insulation in the frame.
