Did the PPL medical today: blood test, general checkup, ECG, hearing test, blood etc and the dreaded eye test. One eye's fine but the other is very poor so i had to be specially examined and will find out in a week or so if i can pass. Essentially i think i'm going to be treated as if I have one eye so dunno what the chances are! :( fingers crossed.

Training wise I've done about 5 hours now since September (not much I know but getting there) Done all the handling stuff and now getting into circuits. Really enjoying it so i'm gunna be major bummed if I can't pass. Stalling is great fun and we've been doing some low level flying over some lakes near Wellington which has been amazing.

Good luck with it pclancy. I'm in a similar situation as regards a class 1. My left eye isn't 100% so I'm dreading doing the medical in case I fail but there's only one way to find out :(

Relax! My right eye is 40% of what my left eye is and Ill pass no bother my optician said, its binocular vision thats tested in the class 2, not monocular as in the class 1. In English that means you ill have to read using both your eyes, not one so it shouldn't be a problemo.

Ill fail the class one but they can't stop me passing the class 2:D

hmm... I must get my medical done too... Pretty sure i'll pass, although similarly my right eye is worse than my left! How much are they costing these days?

Dunno...my right is 6/9 but left is 6/32 which is shockingly bad :)

Wow. That seems cheap. I paid:

    $250 for doctor
$150 for spirometry, ecg and audiogram
    $150 for specialist eye test
    $30 for blood test

NZ$580 is about e240. Dam I thought everything aviation related was cheaper down here :)
