Hey guys just heard today that the 7.20pm from Longford to Dublin Sunday train has been removed from the new Irish Rail timetable to kick in on the 14th. The last time this train will run is this Sunday!!

While I don't really use this service I have been on it a couple of times and it was packed!!! full of students heading up!

This means one less service for students travelling up from Longford and Mullingar upto Dublin on sunday evening.

For CIE to reveal they expect heavy losses and then go and cancel one of their busier sunday evening services is mind boggling!

    Any thoughts?

Thats really annoying, I get the sunday evening train from Mullingar to dublin loads, and its always jammed... I can't understand how CIE makes such illogical decisions!

That's an absolute farce in fairness. I used to take that train a fair bit when I was working back in Dublin. All the students on it too. Now all the other trains are going to be even more packed also. Irish Rail have really done some ridiculous things in the last while. It probably won't effect me at all now as I'm working at home and won't make it to Dublin too often but even still it will upset and mess up a lot of the other locals plans.
