    Hi, Can anyone help.

I am looking for a 9" - 10" mini laptop for a present for her indoors for xmas. Something she can email, browse, webcam and store photos.
Windows xp will do but prefer vista.
Must be PINK... Not price driven, but nothing mad please.

    Any suggestions welcome.

just to let you know they will be in the shops within the next 2 weeks,
its called the acer aspire one.
its xp home, poss 1gb ram and 120 or 160 gb hard drive.
    its a 8.9",

retailing around 399 prob a bit more.
will let you know what shops once they are on the way out to them.

dont know if it has a builtin webcam yet, wont know until they are in stores which should be sooooooon.

only just saw last link, basically the same laptop, but the specs might be different,

    rameire/BuddhaJoe,

Thanks a million, looks exactly what I'm looking for.

    rameire
    I just googled it
It appears to have 0.3 megapixal webcam.
Would this be sufficient for home use. i.e. mainly just chatting to family in distant parts.

She will be delighted with it. Hope I can get it now.

I would really appreciate it if you would let me know when and where it arrives.

just a quick question what area would you be looking to buy in, ie dublin north, south, cork, waterford, dundalk, so i can give you exacts.

    okily dokily.

its due to be going into places like, DiD in dublin, and Soundstore in Cork, ((b-tech in Ennis will have them but you will need to order in advance )) and a few more places will be ordering them for delivery next week, but not sure at this stage.
Harvey Normans are taking a slightly lower spec model, but not sure on their spec, or price.

The one you are looking for comes in pink, blue, brown or white,
its the 1gb ram, 160gb drive, home xp, and a 5 in 1 card reader.
it should work with most wireless dongle modems from vodafone or o2 for example, but it does have built in wifi for your eircom broadband.

    price is still 399 rrp.
    hope this helps,
i will give you more info as i get it over the next week.

    rameire,

don't let anyone ever tell you, you are anything but a gent.

I'll call into soundstore tomorrow, and see exactly when they expect them in. As I say I need for xmas. I've seen it on dabs.ie for 350, but i have read elsewhere on boards that deliveries can be dodgy and its no good to me after 25th. Also I've ssen it on simplyacer.com but again i would be afraid i might not get it delivered in time. I'll let you know what soundstore say to me.

the shopstaff may not know of this order they will be getting, so may be a good idea to call them or visit them early next week.

The laptops should be in soundstore tomorrow.
They are in their warehouse at the moment.
They are only getting a very limited amount.
Blackpool and wilton will prob get the most out of the stock.

May be a good idea to ring and book one for yourself,
    They are expecting your call.

Let me know how you get on, and if you have any problems.

Got it - DID Waterford just got them in this afternoon @ €419.99. Have it reserved. Will drive up Thursday evening to collect.

    Called today to the following:
Soundstore Blackpool - said wouldn't be getting them in.
Soundstore Wilton - expect them in Friday 12th but couldn't guarantee
Harvey Norman - both Cork stores said hopefully end of week but no guarantee.

I know the guys on the floor wont have all the info re shipments but the Harvey guys seemed to be well up on it. Still don't want to take the chance.

Thanks for all the info along the way

    For your info,

I saw the Acer aspire in the Click shop in Blanchardstown for 99 Euro when you connect with Eircom Broadband or 299 without connection.. Not sure of the spec but looks well nice..

Also saw these in PC world up North at the weekend Acer Aspire with 120GB drive for around 225 sterling..
