Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. yeah but they were just saying Ajax had opened talks then werent they?

it was on the Ajax website earlier that all had been agreed between the clubs and it was down to the player agreeing terms but i cant find that anymore, maybe that means something, maybe not!

Madrid are in desperate need of a proper striker with Ruud being out

Huntelaar is out with a long term injury at the moment as well.

€20m for four and a half years according to Marca.

Perfect signing for Real...he's already injured.

he gonna be out for another 3 weeks roughly, not a major problem, been injured since 9 november, was supposedly ruled out for 6 weeks so cant be out much longer.....been 3 weeks now

so technically he should be fit by the time he would join

Huntelaar for 20 million euro initially is an extremely good deal, probably the best striker that has been transferred in the past year, very very good deal.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,407 ✭✭✭Quint

Typical madrid, they're in trouble so they buy another striker

    very good price

    imo better buy than berba

would have rathered huntelaar at utd than berba

Makes more sense to me than Man Utd winning the CL and EPL with a very strong front line and then going out and forking 30 million notes for another striker. Madrid have lost Van Nistelrooy for an entire season, he carries the team in regards to scoring goals, they needed another goal scorer.

They need him. Ruud is out for the rest of the season.

They badly need a new striker ,they really should have bought one in the summer .

Just read it off the BBC website. £17 million Real are going to pay for him. Will be the 6th Dutch player at Madrid. Quality signing I have to say, even though he was linked with my club (Arsenal).

Oops, didn't realise Ruud was out.
Haven't been keeping up with Spanish football. How is Raul doing this season?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Quite good, but nowhere near the reinvention last year, where he took the whole team and carried them with vital goals.

That's actually an entire Dutch attacking side if you wanted it. Hunter and RVN up top, VDV and Robben on the wings, Sneijder in AMF, and then Drenthe as a wingback/ back up winger. Ridiculous, bordering of fetish. :pac:

Lets see how well he does. I highly doubt he will bang in 30 a season against spanish defences the way he can in the mickey mouse league. I thought they would have waited till the summer and tried for someone better ie: Villa again.

RVN scored in that league did alright in europe too! Same could be said for Kuyt :(

He has to prove himself thats for sure.

    Kezman ring a bell?
This will be a similar story.

Does Huntelaar score a lot in Holland, sure he does. Afonso Alves scored more though...

Does Huntelaar score that many in european cup competitions.... not really.

Does Huntelaar score alot of the dutch national team. 18 games, 10 goals doesnt look bad.
Too bad 8 of the goals were in friendlies and 1 goal of the 2 left was during euro2008 against Rumania, almost a friendly.

I dont rate him. And he looks like a guinea pig.

youd really wonder why united werent in for him if he was capable of being got for that much less than Berba....surely he was more what they need/needed than Berba!

    Wow, you post bad.

So let me get this straight, you don't rate him eventhough he has been banging in goals consistently against the opposition put in front of him (0.74 per game in all club competitions)? On the basis that the opposition has been poor?

Remember when RVN came to Utd? He had only been skull ****ing the Dutch league aswell. Turned out to be pretty good though, huh?

Simply put, his record is far too consistent for someone to write him off or "not rate him" lol.

The move makes sense for Madrid at the moment given that RVN is beginning to decline physically.

    QUOTE]

Do you actually follow the dutch league?

RvN banged in goals for fun in Holland indeed but these were most of all also the 1-0, the 1-1 in other words, important goals.
Huntelaar is scoring the goals that dont bring any points, the 3-0/4-0 etc. the points are won in the pocket already.
Thats is why i dont like him. He doesn't score the important goals, he doesnt get his team out of jail.

Now go look in stats and come back with a few games where he did score the 1-0.

The fact is, if he really was that great he would have been playing abroad a few years ago already. There is not a single great player aged 25 of dutch nationality playing in Holland.

This will turn out to be Kezman pt2.

I am gutted as an Ajax supporter by this move, I thought he might stick around at least till the end of the season and help MVB maybe win the league.

But alas our club has yet again cashed in on our phenonemal youth set up, which is a double edged sword unfortunately.

For as much as I am dismayed by his departure, I hope he does well for Madrid.

He only joined you guys in 2005...in his previous 2 years with AGOVV and Heerenveen he'd already racked up 60 goals over 2 years. Really dont think the Ajax youth setup can claim much credit for him tbh.

This is true, what I meant to say is we all always sell our quality youth, the list is endless really, and he may have not come up with us, but imo opinion he is sheer quality.

Unfortunately though I have yet to see him play on my visits to Amsterdam, he is has been injured on the past two occasions I have been at the arena.

Saw Babel play though for us against Feyenoord and he was top.

Afonso Alves scored 45 goals in 39 games in the Dutch league.

Kezman was top scorer in the Dutch league for three seasons.

Dirk bleedin' Kuyt even managed to be top scorer in the Dutch league!

The moral of the story is that the Dutch league bears no reflection on how good a player is.

I think Vennegoor and Arveladze have got the top scorer title at some point too. It seems to be a lot harder to score in the SPL. The vast majority of players to score 20 goals in the SPL are proven high scorers at the top level. Kris Boyd would probably be worth a punt for a premiership team.
