The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy - Douglas Adams

This and The Restaurant at the end of the Universe are definitely in my top ten. Douglas Adams is a genius. Do you remember the Vogon poetry? My favourite part.

    A few that stick out:

Catch 22 - Joseph Heller (acid satire, poigniant and hilarious)
    1984 - George Orwell
The Beastly Beatitudes of Balthazar B - J.P. Donleavy (loved it from start to finish)
To Kill A Mocking Bird - Harper Lee
The Hobbit - Tolkien (much prefered it to LOTR)
    A Clockwork Orange - Burgess
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest - Ken Kesey (terrifying read)
The Real Frank Zappa Book - FZ (interesting takes on a lot of issues)
Lord of the Flies - Golding (re-read it quite recently it's stunning)

and i've just recently started Don Quixote which is building up to be a brilliant read.

Did you see the worst poetry in the universe (ie. a step down from Vogon) in the TV series?
