Nolan has ambitions to play in the Championship...?

I've no idea why he'd go to Newky at this moment in time tbh.

Does anyone think the Kevin Nolan transfer is really strange??

Hes one of Boltons main men. Isnt he their captain also?? And hes only gone for 4 million. I think its a great bit of business for Newcastle. What are Bolton at?? If i was a Bolton fan id be livid.

The Jimmy Bullard transfer was another strange one. Him and Murphy made fulham tick in midfield and they sold him for what 5 million?? To hull of all people.

Man City are about to sign a top top keeper. Finally Given might see a bit more sucess.

I agree. Great player for Newcastle to get, big blow for Bolton. I quite like Nolan.

I saw an interview with Bullard and he was saying that Fulham weren't willing to offer him the contract he wanted, whereas Hull were. He didn't think Fulham wanted him as much as Hull did. He's getting on in years (29?), so I guess he wanted to secure his future for the twilight. Bad move by Fulham really, he's saved them umpteen times.

Im getting over the fact that given wants to leave us, but why city ? He wont get silverware there, not a chance, id feel alot better about it if he went to a top 4 club

Maybe not this season but Given has a good few years left in him and god knows what sort of beast city will turn into in the next few years.

    Yeah true.

However im still very sceptical about City, at least chelsea were a good enough team before Abramovich came in, but city are still shíte with all the players they have signed.

    Time will tell.

Man City haven't even nearly began to spend on the scale that Chelsea did. With the right manager (I'm not sure whether it's Hughes or not) they'll definitely pick up silverware!

At least his chances of winning silverware there are significantly increased. If he stays at Newcastle I think he'd finish his career trophy-less.

Indeed, could also have the added factor of increased £££££.

    Livid? More like thrilled!
His form for the last 18 months has been dreadful. It more or less coincided with the arrival of his first kid. He just seemed to lose the plot.
Until Megson became the most unpopular man at the Reebok, it was Nolan that was being boo'ed of the pitch each week.
£4 million is a great deal from Bolton's standpoint.
The problem is that as much as we'd love someone like Veloso, it seems to be getting harder to bring players to the Reebok.

dos Santos is a quality player. He's Mexico's joint top scorer this year in World Cup Qualification iirc

He just hasn't been given enough of a chance.

Just checked the World Cup site and he hasnt scored yet this qualifying campaign.

I was positive I remembered him scoring twice against Jamaica. I was in a casino at the time absolutely hammered so there ya go.

My first point still stands, I think he is a very good player.
He just has no place in 'Arry's plans obviously.
Portsmouth could be the wrong move for him though as he really needs a very strong manager to mould him into something.

He won't make it England that's for sure. Spain or Portugal maybe. Could end up in south America either.

He came from Spain ! Shows how much you know. Hard for him to stay as he had Messi, Henry, Eto'o, Eidur and Bojan competing with him. I watched him last year at Barca and he is decent. Scored a hat-trick on the last day of the season also if I remember correctly.

Show how much I know? Nice. Obviously I know where he came from.
I meant at another club, possibly in Spain, he could still do it.

The physical aspect of the premier league will stop him from doing well IMO.

Modric, Walcott and Lennon better jump on the next flight to spain so.

Yeah but as soon as someone is in any way small people assume he won't make it whereas people like SWP, Lennon, Walcott etc have proved you can.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 54,678 ✭✭✭✭Headshot

think theres real stereotyping going around concerning small players in the PL

the likes of Fab,Defoe,Modric,Walcott and Robino
    have buckled that argument tbh

espeically Robino hes having a great season so far

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,792 ✭✭✭✭JPA

Maybe I am generalising. I'll just say that GDS won't make it the PL.

Lol we certainly aren't 'shite' by any means. Probably in the top 6 strongest squads in the league. We'll have a strong second half to the season.
