I've photoshop installed on a HD disk that doesn't boot anymore but can still be read from. I put in a new HD and installed windows.

When I go to what is now the D: drive and run the photoshop.exe it tells me the serial number is missing or invalid. I assume it's because the registry entry isn't present on my new OS.

I'm currently trying to open up the registry file off the D: drive and extract the keys I need. This is where I'm having a problem. How do you edit the old registry files?

    I'm looking in D:\WINDOWS\system32\config

There are some shareware programs out there that will read registry .DAT files on disk that come from other computers.

http://lastbit.com/arv/default.asp is one of them, and you can download a demo that is good for 30 days.
