Companies bypassing recruitment agencies in the recession?

    Hi,

I'm a qualified ACA and I'm on the job hunt in Sydney at the moment. And it's not going well.

I was just wondering if companies (in Ireland) may be hiring directly rather than through agencies at the moment to save on fees, which can be fairly hefty.

I'm considering contacting companies directly in search of employment but I know it'll take a hell of a lot of time and effort.

    Anyone have any useful advice?
