Washers not really working today theres a tiny bit of water coming out of the jets and going no higher than the wipers

Any ideas the water is topped up etc, haven't had a chance to troubleshoot.

Forgot to add I can hear the pump working away.

It was my first hunch alright. It could be knackered.

nozzels may be (/slightly/) blocked .......
Try sticking a pin through the jets to free some gunk .......... May help ........

    +1

The most common fault with washer jets.

If you're in doubt, pull off the piping to the jet from under the bonnet and pull the washer switch - if you have ample pressure then you'll know that the jets are blocked.

FYI - if there is ice on the car don't operate the washer as the water in the pipe work will most likely be frozen. This can cause the washer motor to overload and burn out.

Try removing the nozzles and use compressed air to blow the dirt out

    Frozen?

Yes, its what happens to water when the temperature outside gets below freezing point.

Dependant on how much washer concentrate is in it, it may not freeze. If its pure water, yes. If theres washer fluid in it, it should be ok to around -6 to - 20. But being honest, it does seem like they are frozen or the pipeing is being pinched.

Thanks for the science lesson! But that is why I was suggesting that the water could be frozen meaning the washers wouldn't work.

It usually tells you on the side of the bottle how much to dilute the stuff to be proof against freezing at different ranges of temperatures.

That sorted it. Well that and a bit of gravity with a lift of the bonnet

    Cheers!

I know you sorted it, but thought I'd share my experience so no one else ends up doing what I did! I had the exact same problem last year. Tried unclogging the nozzles to no avail. I was certain I could hear the pump going so I brought it to a mechanic who checked all the pipes, which were all clear, and said the only logical answer was to get a new pump. I got one easy enough in Halfords and popped back to him. I was waiting around while he installed the new one. When he took out the water bottle he realised that the hole from the actual water bottle to the pipes was blocked with dirt. Took two seconds to fix and there was nothing wrong with the pump. Credit to him, he didn't charge me for labour and bought the pump off me since he was the one to make the mistake!

I know right? Only thing is he specialises in crash repairs. I was out looking to get my bonnet resprayed after a vandal attack and he agreed to offered to a few small jobs for me as well. Didn't charge me a penny for any of them, and also offered to help find me a buyer when I decided to sell my rust bucket.
