Claiming dole while in education

I have been working part time while studying but now I am being let go. I know that you can't claim the dole while in education but do they have any way of knowing - if the college is in Northern Ireland? It will only take 12 weeks to finish my course but due to travelling and living costs if I have no assistance I will not be able to and will have to drop out and sign on the dole anyway.

    Two options:

Pretend to be ready, willing and available for work. Apply for some jobs even. Don't do great applications, though, and fluff the interviews if you get any. (But remember, in 12 weeks time you'll need to start doing real apps/interviews, so don't make too much of a fool of yourself!)

    OR

Go and ask the welfare office: be totally honest with them about your options. There's likely to be some sort of thing they can use ... it just isn't called "jobseeker's allowance".

    Actually ... third option:

Find some other part-time work! You don't have to tell the employer it's only for another 3 months ... let them think you're studying for another year or somesuch.
