Just because YOU don't know them doesn't make them "unknown", or more importantly, that they aren't great songs.

I'll admit that i'm unfamiliar with more than half the list but, of what I do recognise, there's some quality stuff. And there's plenty of pointers for me to discover new stuff.
OP, particular kudos for having Librarian by My Morning Jacket in the top ten!

Here's some of my other favs of 2008

Death Cab For Cutie - Cath
Hot Chip - Ready For The Floor
Fleet Foxes - Tiger Mountain Peasant Song
    MGMT - Time To Pretend
Vampire Weekend - Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa
Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Midnight Man
Elbow - The Bones of You
The Last Shadow Puppets - Black Paint
    Sigur Ros - Gobbledigook
    Lisa Hannigan - Ocean & A Rock
British Sea Power - Canvey Island

    Glasvegas - Geraldine
The Ting Tings - Great DJ

I have to say I'm surprised/disgusted/appalled at people putting anything by the Killers, MGMT and the fucking Ting Tings on a 'Best of 2008' list.

Take Back The City is one of the worst songs I've ever had the displeasure to enter my ears....

Solid enough list from OP but you neglected any of the Radiohead singles. Reckoner was song of the year and Jigsaw and All I need are also far better than a lot of that list.

Every song on In Rainbows is amazing imo. (apart from Faust Arp, which I don't really get)

Faust Arp is actually one of my favourites. It's so simple and pretty. I like to think of it as a castrated version of Wolf at the Door. And it leads perfectly into Reckoner.

I'm a big Radiohead fan too, but I decided I couldn't use any tracks because they were all originally released in 2007

This is true but the official release date of In Rainbows was 1/1/2008 and the singles were out this year. Technicalities I guess.

hence why i only have house of cards in my list. which wil go up. i done that list last year, and its all about replayability too. and house of cards stands up better than a few thats higher up than that!
