    Hi there,

I'm looking to get a handsfree kit for mammy for Christmas. She's got an '07 A3. Hoping to get something that can be used with an ipod as well.

    Found these on Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_ss_w_h_?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=parrot+hands+free

Are they easy to install? How do you hook up the ipod? Any ideas on which is best?

    Thanks in advance

Parrot kits are generally very good. I had a CK3200 in my previous car. Very good car kit but won't connect to iPod. I recently bought the new MKi9100 which has iPod connection and a couple of other auxiallry inputs but although it looks like a great piece of kit I've had problems with the remote. See my thread here:

I got a guy recently to put in the CK3100 into my car. He said he could also wire in for an ipod connection but seeing as I had an inbuilt mp3 + 10CD changer I left it. Cost me €220 installed & supplied and probably an extra €50 for the ipod connection. PM me if you want their details

as far as I know with the A3, the first 6 playlists you set up on your ipod, will be on buttons 1-6 on the head unit. Guy works with me has an 07 A4 and thats how it works with his

    Thanks for the replies!

Eh popped into Halfords today to have a look at some of these kits. Seems the MKi9200 is the one to go for because you get a bluetooth adapter with it for the iPod. In there it was €269 plus €30 for some additional cable I will need and €30 to install. Seems pricy enough. Alternatively I could just get the CK3200 and buy an iTrip on the side. Think that was €229 + €30 to install + possibly that cable for €30.

Any idea what this 'additional' cable is? How tough are these things to install? By the sounds of things I'm gonna have to get someone to do it for me. Think my best bet is probably to order either kit on the net and then have it installed somewhere.

    Thanks again

The additional cable is probably so it will plug and play,no wiring involved.
