Popular Irish player wins $315,000 after outlasting 1,282 other players

The European Championship of Online Poker III came to an exciting close today with paddypowerpoker.com player Eoghan ‘Intruder123’ O’Dea triumphing over a field of 1,283 to earn a $315,000 payday and the title of ECOOP III Main Event champion.

The $1,060 buy-in tournament ran for a little over 15 hours, with the top 150 players earning a share of the $1,500,000 in the prizepool. O’Dea also wins a jewel-encrusted 18 carat gold bracelet, which was designed exclusively for the Main Event winner.

O’Dea will have the opportunity to overshadow his victory, the biggest in his career to date, when he moves under the studio lights later in the week to contest the semi-finals of the live Poker Million tournament in London, England. There he will join paddypowerpoker.com’s Ciaran ‘Big C’ O’Leary and 14 other of the world’s top players vying for a $1,000,000 first prize.

“We would like to congratulate Eoghan on his fantastic victory in the ECOOP III Main Event and wish him luck in the Poker Million later this week”, said Eric Booth, Head of Poker at paddypowerpoker.com. “paddypowerpoker.com players did themselves proud over the two weeks of the ECOOP festival, with numerous final table appearances, all highlighted by Eoghan capturing the biggest prize on offer!”

Wow, someone I have met has won one of these big events!!!! You'd know he doesn't (to my knowledge at least) post on boards or he never would have got there.

Congrats Eoghan, fair play, great achievement.

According to chat comments at the time, his opponent was a "fishy cash game omaha player" but it was still well played to overcome the 4:1 chip lead.

edit: after 15 hours play also!

to be fair OD pwned ur man hu, piccajo pretty much turned a decent hand with good showdown value into an absolute bluff to give OD the momentum in the game.
