Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Can't believe Clichy wasn't an option for left back...

    I went:
    Casillas
    Maicon-Vidic-Ferdinand-Evra
    Senna
    Ronaldo
    Robben
    Fabregas

    Messi--Torres

    (and Fergie as coach)

Tough choice between Senna and Xavi, but I'm a big fan of Senna's and think he deserves more recognition than he gets.

Why is cRonaldo down as a winger and Messi a striker? Gerrard has barely played right midfield at all too. Anyway, I went for:

    Casillas
    Ramos--Carvalho---Rio
    Evra
    Xavi
    cRonaldo
    Ribery
    Fabregas

    Messi----Torres

    Coach: Advocat

    -Ramos---Ferd---Vidic---Capde-

    Xavi
    Fabregas

    ---Messi

    Ronaldo--

Didn't know you could vote for Senna.. :(

    some strange nominations there.

    Casillas
    Sagna---Vidiv
    Rio
    Evra
    Senna
    Ronaldo
    Schnjieder
    Cesc

    Messi

    Rooney

I know i've gone against popular opinion here a little in including Rooney,

the only other one I wasn't sure about was Schnjeider, saw very little of him tbh, but anytime i had i'd been more impressed than with the other options so hey....

would have rathered a midfield of Senna and Xavi but it wouldn't let me so meh. Cesc is just a more youthful and more complete Xavi anyway :D

    I went with

    Sagna----Puyol---Vidic---Evra

    Ronaldo--Xavi--Fabregas--Iniesta

    Messi---Del Piero

Kind of weird how you can't have Gerrard and Ronaldo in the same team. Must be UEFA's bias against the Premiership :p

I'm utterly appalled that people are leaving the Euro 2008 Player of the Tournament out of their team. It's a sham, and a fraud, and a sham, and a......

    Anyway,

    Akinfeev

    Vidic
    Carvalho
    Capdevilla

    Xavi

How can anyone in their right mind have Ibrahimavic before Torres?

I couldn't decide between Xavi and Fabregas. I went for Fab because he was amazing for Arsenal last year and, per minute, was the best player at the Euros in my opinion.

things too slow but for me the following players cannot be left out or frankly you are just blind/don't watch football.

    Casillas
    Evra
    Rio
    Ronaldo
    Xavi
    Torres

Fabregas started the season off amazing but waned towards the end, and then excelled at the Euros, while Ballack started quietly (mainly through not playin because he was injured) and then almost single handedly got Chelsea from nowhere to a near miss. Hard call.

He waned at the start of the new year after he was injured he seemed to lose confidence, he was brilliant towards the end thou.

The highest assist tally from a central midfielder in the history of the prem league, gets him in the team for me anyways.

Interesting and surprising statistic. If only they played Kuyt as a CMF though, he'd surely break that record. :pac:

i agree, except with Xavi. He's a wonderful player, but there are loads of great CM's. I wanted one defensive midfielder, so had Senna and Mascherano in mind and i wanted one more attacking and imo fabregas is a better player, and had an amazing season last year, and as i stated previously, i think at Euro 2008 he was one of, if not the most impressive player, despite limited opportunities.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,046 ✭✭✭eZe^

Fabregas may be ok defensively, but he's wasted as a DMF, Senna on the other hand is an excellent ball playing DMF, and was better than Fabregas imo at the Euro's.

Surprised to see Casillas in many peoples teams. His form over this season has been very poor and the man has even said himself that he is now going through the worst period of his career.

    What about Euro 2008?

He done good in the tournament but the team is for the whole of 2008. Example being this season he has conceded 24 league goals in in just 14 games so far compared to last season were he conceded just 36 in 38 games. As I said the man himself says he is in the worst period of his career and has been at fault for some goals in recent games. I aint saying he is not good because he is. I went for Cech because I thought he was more reliable over the year as a whole. In fact I cannot recall Cech ever going through a bad spell in his Chelsea career. The odd mistake here and there like all keepers but never a bad patch. He is Mr Reliable I think.

I went with Adler.I watch a lot of German football and the guy is amazing.I rate him as the best keeper in the world.

    Casillas
    ---Ramos---Puyol--Ferdinand---Evra--
    Senna
    ----Ronaldo
    Sneijder---
    Arshavin

    Messi
    Rooney

Possibly slightly biased towards United but these were the best options IMO

EDIT: Sir Alex as coach obviously

Both Fabregas and Senna were better at the Euros than Xavi... not that the Euros are the only basis for this.

I liked being forced to choose between Gerrard and Ronaldo. That was good.
