I was at the show back in June and it was hillarious, even watching it on DVD. He's by far my favourite stand up around at the moment.

Be sure to check out the special features on the DVD. There's about 45 minutes of a show in Dublin, with nearly all new jokes, that's equally as funny.

Cant stand him tbh, never liked him. That egggghhhhhh thing he does every 30 seconds really irritates me. Sorry, rant over

The Dublin section on this DVD was very funny indeed. But what was annoying was his over use of the saying "legend". It was like as if he heard it was the buzz word in Ireland now so he wanted to fit in. It just seemed forced.

I dont generally like comedians who go to the audience to create material. I dont think its funny to watch someone being ridiculed, its just an accepted form of bullying. Its the same tactic as a bully would use anyway and it turns me off. The British comedian Jimmy Carr is the worst at it. His whole show is about laughing AT somebody, not all together. Observational comedy is where is all started and where its still at if you ask me. Billy Connolly doesnt have to rely on making fun of individual people in order to make people laugh.

In saying that, i think Dara strikes a good balance between the two. He is still a very good stand up comedian and most of his jokes are just amazing. Id just prefare to hear more of his homeopathy vs Science type jokes. Oh that reminds me. On his last DVD he done a joke about learning to drive when your in your 30's. Absolutely class. One of the best comical observations ive heard in a long while.

I don't think Dara really makes fun of the audience members. He just sorta uses them as a springboard for improv, which he's excellent at. I don't ever recall him belittling anyone.
Personally, I really like it. It keeps each show fresh. You could go see him several nights in a row, and still get plenty of new stuff every night.

How "improv" do you actually think his improv stuff is?
or am i letting the cat out of the auld bag there?

I think the "encore" bit where he comes back on stage and goes through all of the people he interacted with and thanks them, earning them each a massive round of applause puts the bullying line to bed,i do agree some comedians do take interacting with the audience to far (i don't agree jimmy car is one though)

jimmy carr certainly isnt imo! the only time i have ever seen him really go for an audience member was when the guy kept hecklin, just wouldnt stfu so deserved to be put in his place! and he is an absolute gent of a person!

back to dara, i think he is a legend! saw the show in vicar street and have it on dvd brilliant from start to finish!

I loved his new DVD. The Dublin set is excellent. Especially the Tayto bit.

Have seen this DVD and would highly recommend it.

I don't watch a lot of stand up comedy but this was one of the best live shows I've ever seen.

He totally does improv stuff with the audience! You have actually seen the DVD?? He completely adlibs the stuff with the audience. Sure, he doesn't know what the audience will say....its not Derren Brown were talkin about here...

Actually, there's a funny special feature, where him, and David Mitchell from peep show play a drinking game while watching the DVD. One of the things they have to drink on, is whenever Dara segues from improv to a preprepared bit.

I went to see three comedians in the past few months - dara o briain, neil delamare and jason byrne. was always a hugh dara o b fan and by no means did he fail. very polished and quick - he does say the word "clearly" a lot. jason byrne really surprised me. i though he would be a bit ott filth wise - but i found his show absolutely brilliant. neil d., i hate to say, was a bit disappointing but in fairness look who he followed. i really enjoy him on the panel and will go to see him again.
