i have 10mb broadband with upc.
i can download fine at just over 1.2 MB a second

my problem is that web pages take a long time to load.

any ideas what could be causing this and how to fix it.

Could be the server sending you the content that's the bottleneck more so than your own beefy connection.

Then its probably simply because most adsl service is terrible at the moment due to eircom screwing everything up. give them a call and complain. and if they say to do a speedtest or turn off a firewall tell them to piss off and give a real answer or sort the problem :)

If you're using Firefox, open up the page about:config, search for ipv6 and make sure it's disabled to see if it makes any difference.
