I have been renting for 2 and a half years. Last year there was a problem with the central heating. After months of speaking to the landlord, he arranged for it to be replaced. Since then the central heating never properly worked.I contacted the landlord 2 weeks ago and he sent up specialists to rectify the problem. On Friday, 5th December and Tuesday, 9th December, they have spent over 10 hours in my home and still have not fixed the problem. On them leaving the property on the 12th, I noticed water covered my kitchen and a smell of gas. I reported this to bord gais and they arrived. They issued me with a hazard warning to give to my landlord saying that the area near the boiler is a serious health hazard. Another repairman is in my house now repairing the leaked pipe that was left by the original men. I have been inconvenienced so much and it seems like the landlord is not very worried about this situation. There is no heat in the house and I have been paying high gas bills for the last few months. I would like some advice on what steps I should take in this matter.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone that can advise me

Sounds to me like the landlord is trying to get the problem fixed. Hes paid to have 2 people working for 10 hours to fix it, that wont be cheap and then he got a new repair man in to fix the pipes.

Im guessing the landlords not a plumber / electrician so if he gets someone in to fix it and they tell the landlord its fixed what can he do. Its really up to you to keep at him till its fixed.

The landlord runs a central heating business and these are his employees who told us that they are doing a "favour for the boss" so whatever you make of that.

well then he's just being a git.

keep at him to get it fixed, he should be able to get it done on the cheap so theres no excuse. If you've been there 2.5 years then he would probably want to keep you there as getting a new tennant would be a lt of hassle and may cost him more in the long run as the work will have to be done eventually.
