Mahon Point, Saturday afternoon. I only took one pic but the place was mental, it was like a hurricane had just ripped through the car park and thrown cars about.

Nice F10 mate - but you park like an asshole, particularly given that this was in an often busy car park for a maternity hospital. Allegedly the work of a well known rugby international, but didn't witness it myself so won't mention any names.....

Probably just more bad than obnoxious.

This is what ALL those drivers need that take up 2 spots:

Carlow Co Co car park. The place was jammed - no extra spaces. The ivy might mitigate slightly, but

In fairness, there's never anyone in Rathdowney outlet*, so parking spaces are easy to come by, even two at a time.

*pity - there's a very good old style sweet shop, bookshop and house furnishings place there. Not a lot else though.

Here's one from Clontarf early last Sunday in a practically empty car park.

I've done the loading bay thing I have to say, no more than a few minutes though. When half the street is taken up by them, there's not a whole lot of other places to park.

Thats not obnoxious. Thats just diabolical driving, I bet the person who drives that car also drives on the motorway at 30 miles an hour.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,003 ✭✭✭bijapos

I find this obnoxious rather than bad. The parking bays are not individually marked here, but what the driver has done is leave about 2m in front of them where no car can park in. Wouldn't hurt to pull up to the end of the bay.

If everybody parked like that you end out with 3 or 4 cars in a bay meant for 6 or 7. Pure ignorance imo and somthing that winds me up no end.

I'm confused... you're upset that he left a 2m gap at the front of the bay, and think he should have parked in that gap and left a 2m gap (or slightly larger) where he's currently parked? What difference does it make?!

Assuming the Mini Pajero was parked there before the Volvo, it does make a difference.

But if he wasn't, and was thinking the following, then it was actually considerate... "instead of pulling to the front of the bay and leaving a completely unusable space, I'll stop here and leave some room in the front so someone can try squeeze in and a chance it if they fancy it".

It's all context and I think it's extremely unfair to accuse someone of bad parking based off guess work, not you, the poster of the pic.

You would fit 2 or 3 bikes in there not a problem, or a mini/smart car/another mini pajero.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,495 ✭✭✭Abelloid

Hey, I was only pointing out the assumption, it's not mine. :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,237 ✭✭✭✭djimi

The only justification for the Pajero to be parked that way is if there was another car/bike ahead of it when it was parked. If that space was empty when it parked there then its owner is a prat.

That'd be my thinking. Better to have more space at the front so the tyres might be in the box but a bit of a car could overhang the line rather than park right up to the line and no car can fit in at all.

If that Volvo wasn't there when he parked there then he's a prat but it looks like the Volvo was there before him unless Pajero guy exactly judged how much space a car would need behind him and I doubt that.
