Usual double-parking blocking the set-down spots at Balally Luas this week - There was no driver in any of the 6 cars parked on the inside.

And the Micra was parked just at the entrance gate to Hueston Station yesterday. In fairness, it wasn't blocking anyone else!

Were you the getaway driver for Larry Murphy yesterday?

As a bike driver the obvious lamppost hit on the car would ring warning bells for me anyway.

8 cars, 3 parked correctly, less than 50% can get it right, and we think as a nation we are clever

It was here second attempt at parking. I just had to stand and watch. She had just walked past me when I took the photo, I was hoping she would ask me what I was doing.

Three for one. The guy on the left has parked across emergency access to a beach and the two on the right blocked access to the only visable disabled spot!

I don't even think 3 get it right.

The Mondeo in the top corner, yes.
Silver Micra top left, possibly, but it looks like theres an awful lot of space on the drivers side, leading me to think its possibly on or over the line on the left. And the front wheel looks like its over the line at the front.
Nissan with the bloke getting into it, again a lot of space, and probably on the line on the obscured side.
    Bora over the line.
White em, thing, over the line.
    Punto = arseways.
    Silver Avensis(?) arse way out.
Blue Fiat Multipla (Possibly?), not sure but it looks like its going in at an angle, with the way the wheels point and the angle of the side of the car against the line.

Then again, I'm a little bleary today, and possibly over analysing it.

i was counting the mondeo, the silver micra(looks like it could be alright to me) and the navy car beside the photographer, as everything you can see in the picture is inside the line so going to give them the benefit of the doubt

I rang the Gardai in Dundrum about this and it turns out DLR Co Co never applied to have that area taken in charge and as such, the cars are not causing an offence as they are parked on private property

They have issued tickets that are regularly thrown out in court. I've posted about this in this thread, and what bugs me most is the fact that cars blocking the set down area cause cars to block the crossing and cycleway, it can be tricky for disabled users and parents with buggys. I wonder when the council will get around to completing the paperwork, the Luas is only running 6 years now

When did the thread change from "obnoxious parking" to "cars not parked perfectly"?

True, some people are getting a tad pedantic -IMO that is of course.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭whyulittle

No that's fair enough, did think about leaving that one out. Still think you should be able to put the car in the box properly though.

EDIT: Removed the offending image. ;)

seen as the car in the disabled spaces supports Man utd, they deserve the spot.

a thing that i think every time i see a car in a disabled spot is.

its not a retarded spot its a disabled spot.

A couple of weeks ago in the underground car park in Charlestown, a guy pulled into a space but carried on into the other space facing him, not just the nose, when he stood out of the driver seat, he was on the line between spaces.
I thought about this thread and started giggling, then i realised that he had the space that he had severely encroached on was a disabled space.
At this point i knew he was mentally challenged, but didnt appear to be physically disabled. I then pointed out that he was blocking a disabled space.
He just got back in the car and parked like a normaloid human being after that without fuss, but i'm sure he was muttering under his breath at me after i left.

    i know sorry.

just have seen a lot of cars especially around the kyle centre in portlaoise, parking like idiots, especially in the disabled spots, of which there are only 3 i think near the main door.
havnt had the camera to take photos of them unfortunately.

bash the drivers in the disabled spots all yuo want, equating disableld/retarded/obnoxious drivers with being united fans is likely going to cause a lot of petty arguments,

much more fun just to bash the drivers for being the idiots they are, regardless of who they support

There is a hell of lot of Small cars drivers which cannot seem to park properly . You would think it would be easier for them to park properly in comparison to large car drivers.

last winter I went to my local Tescos and had the kids in the car, wetn to go into a parent and kids space but a transit driven by a local "councillor " with no kids got there first, I said it to him and he just shrugged and said I'll only be a sec, so I parked across in front of him and when he came out I took the kids and said "I will only be a sec" and went in :D I was only doing the lotto so wasnt that long but he was fuming when I came out, I told him next time park properly and also then noticed he had a disabled sticker on his van !!!! and he is not disabled

The driver does not need to be disabled to get a disabled sticker.
The sticker is given to the disabled person themselves to use in whatever vehicle they happen to be travelling in at the time, so he probably has a poor old mother who travels with him and he 'forgot' to remove the sticker when she's not in the van.
I believe that using a disabled sticker without a disabled person in the vehicle is in itself also an offence, but if there are any members of the gardai on here they will correct me.
