The usual thing there is to just slap it up on the footpath outside the Garda station - even to the point of blocking in patrol cars.

That is classic - a woman abandons her car in a garda station staff car park and quite clearly doesn't give a damn but the question here is did she get a parking ticket for an illegally parked vehicle or was she lucky and drove away without a care in the world. She will do it to the wrong person and that's when she'll wake up and smell the coffee.

@Zamboni Is it you that's responsible for the highly-polished surface on our icy roads? :)

No - 2 hours (or was that days.....) waiting for an 18 bus. Wouldn't drive with the likes of that on the road. The earlier photos were 'parked' too. Couldn't believe it. Crossing the solid white line was the clincher for me though.

No tickets were issued, but I've a video of the reversing out onto the main road afterwards; couldn't post that, it would be too much (and it took a while).

Please stop quoting large photos. It's really annoying for many people. We'll just have to delete posts rather than edit them.

Can you give us an idea of optimum/maximum size? Thanks.

Just change tags to tags if you're quoting a post with photos in it.

    Obstruction of pedestrian/disabled facilities.

    Absolutely standard practice in Ireland.

You've got an eye for detail! :)

Yes it did, for a short while. Was testing a Manfrotto Super Clamp at the time, assessing its suitability for use on bicycles, wheelchairs etc.

Didn't work -- the vibration ruined the video recording and eventually broke the 'brass' spigot. End of experimental PramCam...

Some time back I was in Castlebar and I noticed a car parked in a car park with a bit of card with the disabled sign. It looked fake and while getting into my own car I noticed a family returning to the car in question. None of them looked in any way disabled and I took the car reg. I rang the office which deals with disabled disc's and as some may know it is in Castlebar Co Mayo. The nice woman knew exactly the car park I was referring to. She said this was a big problem, especially in Dublin, if you have a disabled sticker you dont have to pay parking fees. People scan them in and print out fake ones. Original ones have a serial number and they can cross reference with the car reg. If someone is 'sharing' their disc it can be withdrawn.

The people in question were never issued a disc, so it was either a copy or fake.

I know a guy who has artifical legs and he does not use disabled parking spaces as he feels he is abled body enough to let people who are disabled to use them. This person sets a good example, especially with all the abled body people that use disabled parking spaces

In all fairness, there is a lot of disabilities that aren't obvious.

The suspension is a bit stressed looking on that buggy. :p

Yes! That is why I did not confront them, I reported it as suspicious and leave it to authorities

As already stated the car reg was not on the system as expected

The disable card looked suspicious, in fact this is not the way disable cars are identified. The woman explained it to me on the phone

The guy took the card off the dash before driving off. Just in case the Gardai stopped him I would expect

You can see commercial vehicles parking in disabled spots, if I see a security van or construction van I think I can assume they are not disabled due to the nature of their work

If I see a person parking in a disabled space with no disc I think I can assume they are also not disabled, or at least should not be parking there.

Often people with disabliities have their cars modified so they can drive them, I have seen these cars I know what to look for. brake is by steering wheel and a knob/handle attached to steering wheel as an example. Sometimes they just use automatic.

The reg does not have to be registered. Many disabled people have a disabled card and don't drive. It is to be used when their friends are driving them to places etc.

I understand your point though. A lot of the cards could be cloned easily and they are never really checked.

Are you saying my child has a weight problem? :)

Actually you're looking at the latest MacLaren* variable camber suspension. Great for cornering and general manoeuvrability!

But hang on, what about the obnoxious parker? That's a driving instructor, FFS! No wonder there are so many sh1te drivers on our roads...

    * That's MacLaren not McLaren... :)
