I think that taxi man might live next door to me looks like the same car, must post some pics of his parking outside, dreadful stuff... often takes up 3 spaces outside the apartment.... will have to remember to bring my camera out with me!

Spotted this today and was sure I was on a winner for Most Obnoxious parking:



Particularly as said vehicle was pretty much abandoned in the middle of the carriageway thereby inconveniencing other motorists and pedestrians.





A closer look, however, revealed an interestingly angled ANPR unit on the back of the vehicle.



Seems, the ANPR is placed to monitor all traffic coming out of town by the back of Pearse Street.



Clever that; seems all passing traffic is scanned!

AHHH Doyles corner is it. The last time I was there I was parked obnoxiously aswell, on my hands and knees in the middle of the road gawking..:rolleyes:

Yeah, the system is infallible though it seems. The area is rife with poor parking, but I presume it’s as a result of lack of proper facilities as earlier discussed here.





Generally, the parking in the area isn’t pro-commuter or pedestrian, despite the bus gate.







The ANPR system, looks a bit like e-voting though. Despite the earlier car scanning all traffic, the Golf ‘parked’ just behind it seems to have forgotten to renew and display its tax. That could lead to a nasty fine.



Round the corner the situation isn’t much better.



Privately taxed vehicles are taking liberties with Garda spaces.



Of course you can always rely on bimmer drivers to take the piss; park anywhere why don’t you.



Mind you, should the Gardai be stuck for spaces, they might take grave offence as at what looks like a rather severely untaxed civilian vehicle in their exclusive spaces.



At least the Renault, up the row a bit, having a ‘TS’ plate might be connected. Perhaps a honcho up from Templemore (Tipperary South) to provide training.



Mind you, they will have to get that NCT sorted. Rumour has it there is a€5,000 fine and a couple of points for non-display.



On the bright side, some drivers parking suspiciously in the area seem to have neglected to apply their handbrakes (is that an offence?) thereby making it easy for the locals to move cars if necessary.



Luckily for the red Audi driver the Sarg didn’t look too far over his shoulder though.



All in all the system seems to work well. Sure the Bus lanes are impeded and the multimillion bus gate that sends other road users round the city in circles is a nuisance, but otherwise the traffic is relatively free flowing on a Saturday afternoon.

I do feel sorry for this other Renault driver though.



I can only presume he or she has had their car impounded for non-display of road tax and him/her just up for the day from Tipp. I mean we all have to pay. There are no excuses.

BTW, shouldn't those road markings read "Garda vehhicles" according to current convention?

Well Anan1 did ask the question. I regret I can't be conclusive in an answer. But I do think we should all lead by example. Furthermore, if the resources necessary are not provided to frontline services, they should be. Rules of the road for me are simply 'Care, Courtesy and Consideration'. There’s a fourth ‘C’; most of us meet them on the road every day. The Gardai should be free to deal with them allowing the rest of us to get from A to B safely.
