Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Almunia
    Eboue---Gallas---Silvestre---Djourou
    Ramsey----Diaby---Song---Denilson
    Bendtner----Vela

Would have preferred Djourou in the middle with Gibbs on the left with Silvestre left out. Very odd putting Djourou on the left.

    Porto team to come

Have to say it sounded like 1856 that John Giles said there. Anybody else think they heard that? Sounded very funny. Come on Arsenal. Come on Eboue.

    Bit harsh from Ronnie there:

    "Song is an awful player."

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Djourou is at centre back and Silvestre is gone to left back.

    Thank fcuk for that

According to the commentators Djourou's own goal against Chelsea came off his shoulder.

Do they even watch football or just read the back pages?

    Is Ray Houghton being serious?
Djourou just made a cracking sliding tackle as the last man to stop Lisandro going 1-on-1 and he says he was just lucky?
    He obviously meant the tackle.
If that was Rio or 'Captain Lionheart captain of Engerland' he's be having a mass circle jerk with everyone else in the studio.
He's nitpicking everything we do, don't know how much longer I can listen to this...

    IS RAY HOUGHTON FOR REAL?!

Bendtner gets forearmed in the face and his eye starts swelling up.
The replay clearly shows that that Porto player made contact with him.

    Houghton's response:

"Ah yeah, there might have been contact!"

Can't believe it took this long for them to make a 'Hulk' joke

    "That'll make him angry."

anyone else think houghtan is very anti arsenal tonight?

    djourou's tackle "lucky"??

he also doesnt really rate Djourou at all...

    idiot

    I'm taking it that's sarcasm?
Or you just don't read posts already made in a thread.

    1-0 Porto
    Good Header from Bruno Alves

Was always coming unless we put together an end product

That's that. Game over. Arsenal have been woeful going forward.

  • Users Awaiting Email Confirmation Posts: 15,001 ✭✭✭✭Pepe LeFrits

Woeful stuff. Vela and Eboue are the only runners in the whole team, the rest just stand around waiting for the ball and then look around, clueless as to what to do with it. Bendtner tries but he doesn't have the pace or the support.

I've been impressed with Bendtner's willingness to put the shift in.
Also very impressed with Vela's tracking back.

eboue is trying very hard but ultimately hasnt been too good

    at least he's running though!

vela can unlock the porto defence but needs to be pushed further up near bendtner

If we want something out of this game we need to make some serious changes.
I don't believe playing Wilshere is of much benefit to the lad in first team games but I'd like to see him come on for Ramsey and push Vela up beside Bendtner

    Vela
    Bendtner
    Diaby
    Denilson---Song----Wilshere

Also if it comes down to the last 15 and we're still trailing get Gibbs on for Silvestre, he'll offer much more going forward than Mikael

    Porto 2 - 0 Arsenal

    Cracking goal from Lisandro
Classic counter attacking goal that we're used to seeing from Arsenal...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 970 ✭✭✭Kirnsy

that goal was coming :( .... some finish though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Changes need to be made now
    Ramsey and Silvestre OFF
    Wilshere and Gibbs ON

Would like to see Simpson aswell

Bad goal to give away. Silvestre caught badly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

    Changes from Arsenal finally

    Wilshere and Gibbs ON
    Ramsey and Diaby OFF

Expect Gibbs to go LM, Wilshere to go RM and Vela to move up alongside Nicklas

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,169 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Extremely lucky to be just 2 down at the moment.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭Green Hornet

We'll be lucky to get away with 2-0 if it stays that way.

    Bendtner is unspeakably bad!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 970 ✭✭✭Kirnsy

    randall??

surely simpson would have been more attacking?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

Randall coming on instead of Simpson.
    Not a great choice imo

    Randall ON
    Song OFF

I think Song has had a reasonably ok game tonight. Looked up for it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,305 ✭✭✭Green Hornet

That was one hell of an inept performance!

Bendtner needs a swift kick to the face

The second half performance made the first half one look sublime.

    That was ****ing appalling.

The lads ripping into them (and Wenger).

I've touted Lisandro on the Utd thread a few times last season but never got any discussion going on it. He's a phenomenol striker and has been in great form the last 2 years. He reminds me so much of Shearer...and that finish tonight had Shearers hallmark all over it.

Don't understand why none of the Premier leagues top guns have gone for him, looks so suited to english football. Perhaps it's the work permit issue because he doesn't feature regularly for Argentina?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,169 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

He'd be a better option than Bendtner alright.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 970 ✭✭✭Kirnsy

we'd all be better options than bendtner on tonights form!

God I love Lucho, probably the most underrated player in world football that I know of, as well as Diego Milito.
