Depends on the ISP your right in fairness, ISP's all have there ups and downs and you will often hear of mass exodus from an ISP because they've changed there network or introduced a FUP.

I am on the Mountrath exchange paddy. I didn't say there was an issue with the local exchange especially with people all over the country having the very same issues
so ive pretty much ruled out any of the normal issues, distance, quality of line, internal wiring contention etc etc.

Your brother in law must live pretty dam close to the exchange to have 15ms pings on the 7.6 package btw.

Anyways, as normal things are kinda back to normal as usual apart from high pings

I was just conveying the fact that the exchange is ok as some exchanges have backbone problems. Your problem must be between you and the exchange.
If memory serves me correct you found it very difficult to get broadband through eircom, therefore there may of had been some problem with the line before.
My Brother in law is about 3km from the exchange, he too had a lot of trouble with internal wiring at the start.

Well considering 95 percent of broadband available in Ireland right now is all just eircom or eircom being re-sold , it has nothing to do with what isp you have.

Theres no way it is a line problem. Its definatley a problem on eircoms end and how broadband in certain areas for certain packages is setup. Just take a look at this posted earlier http://weird.ie/files/smokeping.png. Its not the line being unstable as its not terrible all the time. The pings are fine at a certain time of day then just skyrocket and stay there.
