Im going to put forward the Intro to FF8 which everyone I presume has seen.

For intro nothing really comes close to the intro for Vagrant Story. Wonderfully cinematic, playable in some parts and actually has a superb translation. I'd post youtube links but the whole thing goes on for a good 15-20 minutes.

Suikoden 2 has a great intro. It shows the three main characters childhoods leading up to the war that tore their lives apart. It's very hard to watch again after you have finished the game and

had your stepsister die in your arms and had to kill you best friend

Id have to go with Final Fantasy VIII and X. I liked VIII because at the time I saw the trailer and later, the intro I remember just being completely blown away by them; had never seen anything that good before and it wasnt just the graphics, the music was great too. Heres the intro

And I like the intro from Final Fantasy X because... well, I just thought it was great once again (could be biased thoguh because I thought the cut scenes and story to FFX were brilliant )

I thought the Battlefield 2 into was classic !! especially as it was done with ingame play.

FFVII: I have yet to see any cutscene of 30 seconds create as much atmosphere and interest

Metal Gear Solid 2: Very cinematic, music suited the tone of the game perfect (shame about the game itself)

Completely sets up the twin peaks tone of the plot, even as far as to play like the title sequence of a tv series. Including showing what happens imediately before the start of the game intercut with scenes from later in the game and scenes and locations that are only alluded to in the game but never actually seen, so the whole thing only makes sense after you finish the game. Also: awesome music.
