Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Olympique Lyonnais pair Cris and Juninho and have been fined €15,000 and €10,000 respectively by UEFA's Control and Disciplinary Body after stating that they deliberately committed fouls in order to be booked during the French club's UEFA Champions League match against ACF Fiorentina on 25 November. Both players had already collected two bookings during the group stage so were suspended for Wednesday's 3-2 loss to FC Bayern München. They have three days to appeal the decision.

Very smart for them to get the booking and avoid missing a last 16 game.
    Idiots for admitting it...

I thought yellow cards were indestructable? They could have killed someone on the pitch but if the ref gave a yellow no other punishment could be given?

So honesty is now a punishable offence?

If they said they didn't do it on purpose, they get no fine and so lying is better than telling the truth.

    Great example for kids.

I think the point is you shouldn't be getting booked purposely and UEFA would need solid evidence that the player meant it.

Sissoko trying to get booked against Zenit was hilarious. :D

Yes I agree with you, but UEFA are a big organisation and they should think before handing out the fines. They are pretty much telling kids that cheating is ok as long as you don't admit it.

The line that should have been taken here is that they will review that yellow card rule and leave it at that.

Should have waived the fine and banned them for one game each each for bringing game into disrepute etc:

I honestly can't understand how deciding you'll take a ban in the next game is punishable.
It's a bit saucy but that's all really.
