    Wow, that's pretty awful. You've got this on Steam right? All I can sugest is that you defrag the game cache files, and verify integrity of files. May well sort you out... Any other games/graphical applications having problems?

    Update/ roll-back your video drivers.

    I experience a similar problem if I set the graphic detail to 'premium'.

    I'm using the 178.24 geforce drivers. Don't want to update them as I hear the newer ones can screw with Left 4 Dead.

    I'm using the latest beta drivers, 180.70, which are pretty good - no other problems in other games.

    I'll try that cache stuff later.

    Latest nvidia beta drivers are 180.84.

    Latest beta drivers made no difference, but I changed from Premium graphics to Normal, as another poster did. Solved it.
