I have METAL SALIERI tattooed on my upper back in largish letters, and can mosh and festival with at least the second-best of them.

I was a huge Mozart fan as a child.

I have recently rediscovered my love for Irish trad and folk music, and I must say: I'm addicted to Luke Kelly!

Anyone else here as weird as me?;)

saw this thread on the front page and decided to reply...

I actually cant stand metal, but for some reason, I love Machine Heads stuff...not a big fan of the Dubliners or trad in general, but the Pogues are one of my favourite bands.

Hate all rap exept (early) Cypress Hill and NWA. Love the Chilis, Tracy Chapman, RATM and Audioslave. Love Pearl jam and hate Nirvana.

It is strange how you can hate an entire genre, but still find a band or two in that genre that you can really like!

I though this was going to be about David Bowie :)

Not as wierd as the OP, but I have a divierse mix in my collection. Kraftwerk to Motorhead to Miles Davis to Me

Pretty diverse music taste I'd say.

I like many types of music. Mostly hip hop but a lot of soul and funk as well. Also like a good bit of rock, jazz and dance as well.

At the moment, my favourites are Os Mutantes, David Bowie, Ohio Players, Prince, Nas, Zapp, Jimi Hendrix, Basement Jaxx and OutKast.

There's nothing weird about your taste in music. Having an eclectic range of styles shows you are a real music fan. My own taste is wide and varied too; everything from punk/oi to Afro-pop, jazz to grind, metal to psychedelic, seventies porno and b-movie soundtracks to Krautrock and prog, etc, etc.

There's a whole wide world of music out there and not nearly enough time and money to explore it all. I can't understand how certain people limit themselves to one or two genres. To me that would be like eating the same meal every day for the rest of my life.

Yup, I'd be the same as most of you. I'd listen to a lot of Nick Drake, Beck, NWA, Smashing Pumpkins, Buena Vista Social Club... and so on. The only genres I'd really stay away from are metal, most of the pop scene and modern hip-hop (such as Chris Brown and the gang).

That isn't wierd. That's healthy. Great music is great music regardless of genre.

Now, people who'll only listen to one kind, they're the ones who're wierd.

Did anyone else think of something completely different to the content of this thread based on it's title? I was thinking more along the lines of Damon Albarn/Gorillaz kinda personality, and what have you.

Kool Keith? MF DOOM? Richard D James? Maybe we should have a thread on this instead.

OP, forget about genre in general. There are a couple of genres that wouldn't have me running in the door (punk, metal, glamrock) but generally music is either good, alright, not great and bad and this stretches itself between all genres.
