Wireless Connection Problem

    Hi all,

Just have a problem with trying to connect to the net at home (Galway) on the laptop (the other people in the house are having the same problem) over the last 2 days using eircom wireless. The icon down in the bottom right corner shows an excellent signal and seems to be connected to the router. It appears to be some fault with the DSN.

I'm just wondering whats the best way to fix it and also is it common for this problem to just spontaneously occur??? We've been using it for the past year without any problems at all????

Any help or info would be much appreciated, thanks.

if you plug your laptop directly into the router using an ethernet cable, does internet work for you? you should do this first, to determine whether the fault lies with the router or with the wireless config.

    Hi,

Yea I tried that but still no luck. Still getting a message saying the maybe a problem with the DSN. Is there a way to reset the whole system?

the problem isn't the wireless config, the router cannot make an internet connection at all.
when you say DSN, do you mean DNS?
If so, change your network adapter settings to use Opendns server ip addresses and see if that works for you.

Start at the start!!! Can you confirm that you are connecting to the net?

Should be on the main netopia page - as advised above http://192.168.1.254

yeah but that link isn't an internet link, it's the home page of the router. thats gonna work, regardless of a connection problem to the isp.....
