Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Lads,

I admire your knowledge of boxing - I am not an expert by any means of the sport.

All I can say on the subject is I remember Barry McGuigan doing his talking in the ring, Dunne seems to be too interested in the publicity and Hunky Dory end of things - but best of luck to him - if he wins a world title I'll eat my chrisp bag.

Any bookies giving odds on him getting any world title - i'd say it's a long shot

I would'nt fancy Dunne's chances at winning a world title to be honest lads. He lacks any real punching power, has a questionable chin and is just too scrawny.. Dont get me wrong he's a tidy boxer but I just dont think he's a world beater..

To those of you who think paul Hyland was beatin by a journeyman. hyland lost a very contravercial descion to lucial gonzalez with a record of 9 wins 4 loses nd 1 draw a featherweight FROM philidelphia IN philidelphia.
gonzalez can in to the fite with hyland on a run of 6 wins which shows hes no journeyman and won again after hyland............
hyland bounced bk by giving a boxing lesson to eugene heagney live on sky sports, and jim watt couldnt say enough bout how good he was.....
hylands being offered a european title shot at bantanweight held by ian nappa...
i havent read any comments on the hyland vs heagney fite... any1 else see it hyland was class...............

congratulations to all our irish fighters and best wishes to them all in 2009

eh reality check for ya but a record of 9-4-1 isnt quite journeyman status but a defeat by a boxer with a record like this is pretty poor especially with the absence of a solitary win against even medicore oppossition, as for the Heaghney fight, Hyland done well but Heagney was terrible IMO. In saying all that I dont see why Hyland cant beat Napa

As for Dunnes best chance for a world title: This guy has just picked up the wbc super bantamweight title:
    http://www.boxrec.com/list_bouts.php?human_id=14023&cat=boxer

    Japanese fighter Toshiaki Nishioka. won 33(20ko), lost 4(1ko) ko % = 50

He was the interim champ but beat Genaro Garcia for the title since Vasquez has been made "champion emeritus" just like vitali was.

On paper Nishioka seems the best choice and less dangerous than Cabellero and Lopez. Dunnes camp were going on about the wbc rankings recently. On rte before his last fight they showed Dunnes wbc ranking (24th) along side his name and Faccios(11th).
Faccios was at bantam and Dunnes was super bantam but im sure he was shot up the 122 ratings none the less almost to the extent if he had beaten the #11 at 122. wbc still have their november ratings on their site.

What if Dunne gets a shot and wins the belt? He'll be getting a telephone call from one Mr. I Vasquez!!!

Anyway, wouldnt it be great to see Dunne with the WBC belt.

There are reasons why boxers have managers - IMO Hyland is promising but is not ready - A shot at European title ( if defeated, will not get another shot any time for the next 18mths) that could ruin him. I say let him improve his game first, bad management

Spot on - Hyland has potential and I hope he can pull it off, But they where my thoughts when this was announced, a little early in his career.

Guys that move up that fast usually have something special about them, no disrespect to Hyland but there is nothing "special" about the guy.

McCullough wants Dunne and apparently sitting down with Peters to chat about it when he's over on ufc duties this weekend.

Dont care for this fight one bit as I dont want to see either man beat.
btw Dunne went from 25th in the wbc ranking to 18th after beating Faccio.

Agreed, this would be a terrible match if it was made. McCullough needs to keep out of the ring.
Dunne is also now rated at 12 by the WBO.

Who is this Irish guy ranked just above Bernard in the rankings?

    Are they related?

No I really thought you were wondering whether Bernard had a half brother out there who also shared his talent for boxing!
Of course I knew you were joking man.
It's kinda funny that the website would make that error seeing how these two (or there managers to be exact) have been slagging each other off lately.

Yeah I know, hopefully we see them fight soon enough.
