I'd like to take an evening class in astronomy somewhere around Dublin. I've already completed the astronomy Ireland course and would like to take it a bit further. I've looked on that evening courses website but its a bit confusing. Any ideas? Thanks a mill

    Hi,

I am not sure if this is of any use to you: http://www.daycourses.com/search.html?op=listcourses&college_id=Astronomy%20Ireland&cl_id=1620

I'm sure you have seen that before, but tell me if you have not.

Think that link is to more Astronomy Ireland courses mainly. If you want to try distance education, try University of central Lancashire:

Have a wide range of courses, which can in thoery lead to BSc in astonomy, all can be done through Distance Ed. Did some of them myself a few years ago and can certainly recomend them, well organised, excellent educational materials provided. Price quite good, especially with Sterling heading down, prices are a awful lot better then Open University. courses follow academic year from sept to june, so would have to wait till next september.
However, they link up with Liverpool john moores university and Jodrell bank (get to use a radio telescope through an online interface!), if you do courses with them you can trnsfer the credit to Lancashire to count to their qualifications, and they start there courses at a load of different times during the year:

    All the best
