Starlet ECU Issue

Hi Everyone. Just been given the bad news that the ECU in my '98 Starlet has given up. I'd like to clear about one or two things. Can I replace it without needing to have it's own ignition key, and the engine management light does'nt stay lit when the engine is running? Can anybody shed some light on the subject please?…

Hi Everyone.
