I'm going to bet that you are on the PC , and your ISP is UPC. Am I right ??

There is a problem with this game, it seems to affect some ISPs and others not at all.

Yep, Christophicus is spot on IMO. I was having the same problems for these reasons. Stopped frustrating the life out of me when I decided to uninstall the game and keep on playing CoD4! :D

Does anyone know where the problem lies ? It is hardly the game as it works with other ISP's . Like I said I connect 100% of the time , I am with Eircom .

Obviously there is some incompatability between how UPC is set up and how they set up the master servers for CoD5. Its not a problem solely with UPC though. It affects other ISPs around the globe, its just that UPC appears to be the only Irish one.

Here is some info robbed from another forums so that atleast people will understabd why they can't connect ............( assuming his info is correct )

The reason is your ISP blocking the traffic. The company that supplied the net code for CoDWaW is called DemonWare. For some reason, this type of net traffic created by DemonWare is wrongly interputed as P2P filesharing traffic and is shaped to the point of barely working at all by your ISP.

Because the only Demonware connection being made is to the master server for the profile connection, this is the only thing that fails. If we didn't have this profile connection (like how CoD4 didn't have it) then we wouldn't have this problem.

Demonware also supplied the net code for a game called Grid - this game is impossible to play online depending on your ISP. Same again with Quake Enemy Territory.

My ISP is UPC/NTL, who also own Virgin UK broadband. Demonware know of the problem, I spoke to them, but there's nothing they can do as the ISP's ignore them. Demonware informed me that there are many ISP's that are causing problems with this code. The ISP's won't change though, because they are terrified of filesharing lawsuits.

Yup, thats pretty much what I thought. I have the same problems with GRID and TMNF .
He is wrong about Virgin , but everything else seems to make sense and is solid info.

Jonski, if you could post a link to that thread it would be much appreciated. I'm gonna email UPC and see what happens :P .
