Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

He played a fair bit of Schools rugby at 12, took the place kicks too, wasn't bad. Remeember seeing the ogre playing and thinking he had suprisingly good handling.

His part in the "IRB try of the year" against australia was immense. Even if he was jumping against a scrummie.

I think everyone knows that Wallace's best position is 8, but because of circumstances beyond his control he always seemed to end up at 7. With Foley at 8 for Munster and than when Leamy came in and Quinlan playing well at 6 he was left there.

It was the same for Ireland, we wanted a 'balanced' back row. We had Victor Costello followed by Foley at 8. I think management realised that Wallace was too good to leave out.

I always believed that 8 was his best position and I'd like to think he will get a good run there but it's looks like Ferris, Heaslip and Wallace at the moment

It seems to have become sacrilege to say anything apart from David Wallace is the greatest thing since sliced bread, but was anyone else concerned about his workrate in the AIs? He did very very little grunt work and put in a very low number of tackles for an openside. I was at the NZ game and a lot of time was spent in the 3/4 line waiting to carry, then when he does make a decent carry (which he's very good at, no arguments there) everyone raves, without considering what he's not doing in order to be in that position in the first place. He's been very good for Munster because in general the Munster pack can stand up to anyone else in Europe, but things are different at international level. It's evident you can't compete without a traditional openside, every other team in the top 8 employs one except Ireland.

hes been very good for munster because have Leamy and Quinlain who will do all the donkey work. Wallace then covers for leamy by doing the carrying. It works very well for them. with Ireland Heaslip is a No.8 not like leamy who has learned his trade mostly at 6. With Ireland you end up with Heaslip and Wallace bought standing of and doing more carrying of the ball. Ferris at 6 or leamy at 6 end up (Will end up) doing the donkey work for the back row on his own. However take nothing away Ireland and munster both need wallace. he has so much to offer that it would be very hard to do without him

Actually Heaslip did a lot of donkey work and very little carrying in both games. He was our top tackler in the Argie game for example. He's not a breakdown 'specialist' at all though.
