My very 1st thread locked...??

Hi,

My very first thread was locked by the mod 'fitzgeme' for 'advertising'.. I posted an honest question as I am very interested in this particular company and merely stated a description of the service I had read about and curious to hear peoples views on... I just sent that moderator the following message...

I'd like to know why my thread is locked? I joined boards to ask about this particular clinic and I was only stating what I had previously read...

I have no affiliation with access smile but I am interested in using their service..

For your information I am a 22 year old male college student from IADT studying IT and I am very anxious about getting my teeth sorted asap so I really do not appreciate my very 1st thread on boards being pulled for 'advertising'

I will post this message on the help page also as I am appauled by this poor service.

Firstly you need to understand that this website is raped every day by spam. We delete a massive amount of spam threads from viagra to ipods. These posts will generally come from a new user, with zero posts. The fact that the dentistry forum receives some amount of shilling and spam from dental clinics abroad (afaiu) means that they have to be wary of new users, like yourself. So I'm sure you can understand (being someone with email spam every day?) that this is a problem and must be curbed.

Secondly, there is no point complaining about the service you are receiving. You are not paying for posting here and the mod is not paid to close your thread or do the work that they are doing. I am appalled that you think this way. If this has marred your opinion so badly of this website then I suggest that you think long and hard about using the internet in general.

As for your thread - Private message the mod that closed it and explain your situation and he'll advise you on the best way forward.

We have a rule around here that if it looks like advertising, it probably is.

If you read your post, it really does tick all the boxes:

"I heard about this company...."

"They look after everything...."

"They offer a full guarantee, and if there are any problems....."

It actually reads like the script of one of those cheesy ads you see on TV for laser eye surgery or something.

Sometimes honest posters do get caught up in this, but that doesn't mean that the moderator made the wrong decision. In this case he made the right decision because I would considered it to be blatant advertising too, and so would anyone else.

However, by virtue of you having appealed the decision, that usually means that you are just an honest poster.

Discuss it with the moderator (send him a link to this thread if you want), and he may be open to letting you repost your thread.

Thanks guys thats exactly the reason I locked this thread. The poster PM'ed me and I replied. I appologise if this has caused the poster any grief over a genuine post.

Thanks for the speedy responses.. I can understand your position but I am still in a predicament because I would like to get feedback on this specific company so what can I do? In this case it is a genuine post and you know that now so can you unlock it please...
