If you join a cumann, what does it entail? Do you represent your local aera and try to improve it or do you just help get people elected in your local aera? Any info about a cumann would be much appreciated.

Best thing is really if you have a number of people interested in setting one up with the same aims. An existing one would be active enough for you not to need to come on here to find it if it was doing what you rightly expect it to do (i.e campaign on local issues and act as an internal party lobby group.)

Contacting party HQ is the best thing to do, see if you can speak to the recruitment officer.
