Timing belt or chain?

    Hi,

    A Saab 9-3 1.9Tid 2005. Does that run on a timing belt or chain and when should i consider having it replaced?

    think it is a belt and dont think the belt has a normal 60k mile life- its shorter. so depends on how many miles you have on it.

    *Edit* i have just checked the autodata cd and 3003 9-3 has a timming chain. Guess your gonna have to wait till a more knowledgeable person comes along to verify it!

    It's a belt. I'd change it every 36k miles as these belts have a habit of snapping early. Change the waterpump as well at the same time.
