This story shocked me when I heard about it. Jim Carey, the movie industry's resident funny man has admitted to suffering from long term depression.

He appeared on Larry King yesterday and told him that anti-depression drugs don't work for the disease, which Carrey says he's been battling his entire life. He doesn't believe anti-depressants are the route to take however, believing that Prozac is not a permanent solution.

Carrey revealed what he uses as a remedy for his depression. Revealing what works for him, Carrey adds, "It is vitamins. But it's also certain elements of the brain like Tyrosine and hydroxytryptophan that they're treating depression with now. It is a natural substance that's in your brain...This actually creates dopamine and creates serotonin - a wonderful thing. It's amazing. I'm going to talk a lot about it in the near future."

Who will be next I wonder, seems like everybody is spilling the beans lately!

isn't there a much higher rate of long term depression amongst comedians than almost any other profession? (with the exception of dentistry perhaps)
