Hot on the heels of Subaru pulling out of the WRC and Honda's withdrawal from F1, Honda have now announced that the second generation NSX which was due to be launched in 2010 has been canned and are concentrating on hybrids and volume sellers instead.

    Full details here:

Inevidable really since their F1 announcement, as the new NSX development was based around a V10 from their F1 program.

Another sad day for car enthusiasts non the less!

Lol, i think the only current model NSX i've seen was on Top Gear. Leave it off, when they start cancelling the rest of there cars i think we can start getting worried.

Pity, but wise decision none the less. The last NSX memories live on for another while!

Yeah, their sales were terrible tbh.
    Still, just make less like...

Classic case of badge snobbery. A better car than the Ferrari 348 (which actually came out after it) and the 911 at the time, but no one bought it because of the badge. Stupid people.
Still, all the nearer for me to afford! Some day!

I don't know. The "new NSX" was meant to be a car designed to appeal more to the American market, after all the NSX which was badged as an Acura over there was very successful over there.

Would we really have been missing out on a lot?

Still though, this does leave me very worried about the direction of Honda.

I mean we had Civic VTis(or SiRs for the JDM fanbois) and Type-Rs, we had Integras, CRXs, Del Sols and others before and other sorts of high revving 4 pot screamers once upon a time - now they're all gone more or less and Honda are even going building a Type-R diesel in the not too distant future.

Honda made their name with DOHC VTEC back in the 80s - now they're intent on throwing this away. I really did expect better from a make that once said they'd never ever do a diesel.

They don't seem to be bothered with petrol engines any more these days - I mean when was the last time we saw something revolutionary from Honda in a petrol engine? They gave up on direct injection, they were talking about I think it was called "advanced VTEC" at one stage so I mean what are they up to?

The S2000 was gone, Hondas never really did a lot for me but I genuinely do admire any car that can get 117.5 bhp per litre have a 9,000 rpm rev limiter and not a turbo in sight and yet the very same engine would appear to be bulletproof. It just goes to show the folly of the supposed wonder that is the Audi R10 TDI, which even with its 4 turbos and an engine only designed to last 24 hours rather than 200,000 miles like the Honda doesn't even have as much power per litre.

As the founder of Honda said "without racing, there is no Honda".

    That's €45,000 for a 2005 LHD one.
There was the same year RHD one in UK http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/807605.htm till it was sold, for €42,000! Even better value!
