Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    .......who would be in it?

It's the second last work day of the year and I'm bored off my tits so thought this might pass an hour or so. As it turned out I had a team picked in about 5 minutes. Leaving aside all bias etc I've gone for -

    Casillas

    Puyol
    Vidic
    Carvalho
    Evra

    Essien

    Xavi
    Kaka

    Messi
    Robinho

    Torres

lol at a world 11 without the best player in the world...

    mine would be

    Buffon

    Boswinga Ferdinand Carragher Evra

    Messi Xavi Mascherano Ronaldo

    Gerrard

    Torres

as you can see ive gone for a balanced team as opposed to simply the best 11 players. think my team would kick your teams behind!!

lol at Robihno, Carragher, Boswinga, Mascherano and Gerrard being there tbh.

I like Xavis team but obviously Ronaldo for Robihno, not sure about Puyol at right back and theres not much between Villa, Torres and Etoo up front.

Carragher, Mascherano and Gerrard??? I said WITHOUT bias! :D

I realise the exclusion of Ronaldo is controversial but I just love watching Robinho. It was between them two for the spot though.

Its become more of a relic of the 80s / 90s.

4-2-3-1 beats it most times these days and thats whats winning leagues / cups.

    Cech
    Anyukov - Ferdinand - Carvahlo - Evra
    Cambiasso - Xavi
    Ronaldo
    Gerrard
    Robben
    Ibra

only carragher definitely shouldn't be there, great player though he is.
Mascherano, if one is playing with a holding midfielder, is the best in the business at what he does.
Gerrard is just Gerrard. Fantastic player, has absolutely everything, not sure what's funny about his inclusion.
And while i don't particularly like Bosingwa i don't think there is an abundance of great right backs.

Aww. That brought a wry smile to my face. I used to idolise Campos as a kid (being a short assed keeper with questionable fashion sense)

    Assuming it's current players:

    Buffon
    Alves
    Vidic
    Cannavaro
    Evra
    Ronaldo
    Gattuso
    Deco
    Messi
    Raul
    Torres

Bench: (cause I feel bad to leave some out)
Cassilas, Carvalho, Puyol, Scholes, Fabregas, Drogba, Eto

    Edit Oops forgot Kaka yikes.

My current FF Champions League set up I suppose:

    Rensing
    Bosingwa ---Carragher----Panucci----O'Shea
    Xavi Hernández---Gerrard
    Ribéry
    Messi
    Benzema
    Drogba

Too lazy to think of another team just now :)

    Buffon

    Alves----Vidic
    Carvalho----Maicon

    Xavi

    Ronaldo
    Messi

    Ribery

    ---Del Piero
    Ibra

    Casillas

    --Alves
    Nesta
    Chiellini
    Maicon--

    Xavi
    De Rossi

    Messi
    Ribery----

    Ibrahimovic
    Eto'o

Think it's got alot of chemistry and a good blend of attack defense. I picked Nesta on past form tbh, but on his day he's the best CB in the world.

    Currently playing, right?

    Casillas

    Vidic
    Ferdinand---Evra

    Essien

    ---Messi
    Xavi ----Sneijder ----Ronaldo

    Torres

    Casillas

    Alves
    Vidic
    Carvalho
    Evra

    Messi
    Kaka
    Senna
    Ronaldo

    Ibra
    Tores

    Good old fashioned 4-4-2

RB- not really too many choices IMO, Boswinga maybe? Maicon?
    CB- Maybe Rio!
CMF- Went with Senna after Spains Euro's, offers more going forward then Mascherano, Essien is very good but nah! Senna for me
I know Kaka isn't playing well but what a player, he's still up there
UF- I think Ibra is still very underrated in terms of world best, the main reason behind Inters success IMO

    Ibra

Don't see an awful lot of international leagues, so heavily weighted towards EPL. 4-4-2 diamond, target man and fast striker partnership.

GK: Reina - so reliable, great shot stopper.
DR: Bacary Sagna - hate the Gooners, but gotta give it up for him.
DL: Maldini, if he's still playing. Intuitive understanding of the position (my favourite position, by the way).
DC: Cannavaro - dunno if he's still got "it", but he's the archetypal Italian libero.
DC: Ledley King - on his day (which is rare).
    DM: Essien - the man's a beast.
    MR: Ronaldo - no argument.
ML: Messi - from what I've seen of him.
AM: Gerrard - such an instrumental player for Liverpool.
ST: Berbatov - great target man, so skillful, and a top-class finisher.
ST:Agbonlahor - fast as bejaysus, good finisher, would work great with Berba.

Nice one - something to do before lunch

    Buffon

In fairness I think most of us watch more EPL than anything else. Hard to pick players you dn't see often I guess. Though eZe^'s team has no EPL players so there are exceptions.

I dont get this whole Ibrahimovic thing I really dont. He is a forward and his main job is to score goals yet he doesnt score a bucket load of them anywhere in his career. He is also 27 so he has a fair bit of experience at this stage. Honestly think he is overrated by some. There is far better better quality forward players Torres, Villa, Eto'o etc.

I would have Totti, Fabregas, Eto'o, Chellini, Cech on the bench. It was quite hard not to put Totti in because he is my personal favourite player. Change the formation though and he could be easily put in. The guy's football brain should be studied and knowledge passed on to all aspiring players.:)

But like I said better players out there. Villa and Eto'o have far more impressive goalscoring records than Ibrahimovic.

David Villa Valencia 114 apps 70 goals

    Spain 41 apps 24 goals

    Samuel Eto'o Barcelona 122 apps 93 goals

    Cameroon 73 apps 36 goals

Zambrotta is a world class full back. I have him at right back in my team.

If we're talking about goals per game, Torres for spain is fairly woefull

2006 was his last good year to be fair. Back then he'd be in but not now.

Wes Brown, most appearances of any of the United defenders last season, which happened to be the best defense in Europe, that defensive enough for?

Attacking wise more assists and goals than Evra.

Puyol was part of a defense that conceded 43. Apart from that he predominately plays Centre back, but if you wish to add Brown to that, I refer you to the 2 Barcelona games last season where for me he was man of the match at the Nou Camp playing Centre Half.

I'd have Maicon and Ramos ahead of Puyol any day. To say he's a world best RB is a joke, Wes Brown is better IMO. You're on own on that one!

As far as Ibra concerned he's proven himself in Italy with a super record, Villa nd Eto are both class players with super records, put them in the Italian league would they be as prolific!

If Ibra was with Barca or Real he'd be equally if not more successful, there's no doubt the Italian league is a much harder one to score in

Glen Johnson is better than Puyol ffs...

    my team:

    Casillas
    Sagna---Carvalho----Vidic---Evra
    Essien
    Xavi
    Messi
    Rooney
    Ronaldo
    Adebayor

yup, you read right. Adebayor. he may not be clinical enough, he may be a bit of a c*nt personality wise, but when he's on form there's no one better in the world at the mo holding up the ball than Ade, and in a team with both Messi and Ronaldo that's exactly what you want in your striker, to get them on the ball.

Ramos cannot defend. He was never able to defend and by the looks of it will never learn how to defend.

He is the only right back I know that needs a right back behind him.

Fair enough then but lets get things straight. Puyol only occasionally plays full back. His primary position is CB. How did you put Kaka in your team. He was far from impressive last season and you were the one who mentioned Zambrotta no longer being up to standard so I can only think you are using last season and this as your reference for players.. Christ I put Ronaldo in my team and everyone here knows I hate the wanker !
