Just read in the Munster Express that the city council has approved for next year a rise in the hourly cost of street parking in Waterford City from 1.50 to 1.80 an hour. While I realise they must be finding it hard, just like the rest of us to balance their budgets for next year, I feel a rise at this time coupled with…

Just read in the Munster Express that the city council has approved for next year a rise in the hourly cost of street parking in Waterford City from 1.50 to 1.80 an hour.

While I realise they must be finding it hard, just like the rest of us to balance their budgets for next year, I feel a rise at this time coupled with the threat of a 45euro fine for being late back to your car, will only compound the footfall problems faced by the city centre.

Yet another wonderful idea that will end up driving more and more people to shop outside the city centre. Way to go, WCC. Really helping to attract footfall to the city centre. :rolleyes:
