i liked it - great shop , of course dealz and euro store and mr price werent around then.
i used to go to woods and then walk across the road to marys and then have a bite to eat in the carlton cafe

Personally to me, that sounds like a miserable way to spend a day in town.

The Sidings Restaurant in Lord Edward Street is closing.
That’s the fourth restaurant in the last 3 months that has gone from town.

They just relocated to the golf club in strandhill

Fair enough but it still leaves another vacant premise in the town and one restaurant less.
Five restaurants/pubs in total have gone from town over the last 8 weeks or so.

    Cool.

I drop in there now and again if I'm early for a bus.

I see the Applegreen hoarding is coming down from the station on Pearse Road, I'm guessing they ditched the franchise again. Unless they are putting up a new fascia, that canopy will be very exposed to Storm Jorge.

The Hale vapeshop on O'Connell st, beside the now closed Party Boutique, is also closed. Posters up on the window.

    Now Maxol.

Not surprised the deal with Applegreen ended.

That's a pity. I hope someone else has a go at it. I was only in there twice since Mousey moved to Connolly's. Not the same as it was years ago.

Furey's will be missed...was always the go to place before any gigs in Andersons.

Would this have been the case even without Coronavirus?

Not sure. The owner passed away very recently

I kind of regret not going there more often now. Food hit the spot. One of the staff was rude as ****, though.

I would imagine it will reopen in some form after this crisis has passed.
Might take a bit to sort out any legal issues etc but as a business it does very well.

Time to encourage a lot of the bigger retailers into Castle St. & O'Connell St?
The main streets will have even more of a ghost town feel now and that won't be changing until chamber policy does.

agree... but layout of the town though. Difficult for lorries and delivery trucks to get down , traffic holdups, poor parking for staff and customers, not big enough floorspace area of existing buildings and outdated buildings ... I wouldnt really blame if the bigger retailers want to set up shop out of town in these circumstances these days even if chamber policy changed to be honest

It's time to start pulling cars out of the town centre and make it somewhere worth travelling to and hanging around. We can see the benefits around the Rockwood Parade, time to start bringing that up to other regions of the town. First step should be getting rid of most on-street parking and converting it to contraflow cycle lanes and wider footpaths.

Anyone know where to go for instant photo printing with Photofast gone and Boots kiosks closed?

I've nothing to do with the Chamber but that has consistently been their policy all along. Trying to encourage big retailers in the town rather than retail parks.
