2009 is pretty handy nearly everything you need to know can be found by just hovering over the icon and it will usually give you picture example too.
Or you can just type the keywords into the help.

Is there anything in particular you need to know?

    Here's a good site. http://usa.autodesk.com/adsk/servlet/index?siteID=123112&id=10947339&linkID=9240615

These are for an earlier version of Autocad, but they are good tutorials and will teach you all you need to know to be able to draw 2D in autocad.

just about starting a plan not looking to do much just draw a simple plan for a house to scale. not looking to do anything to technical. just remember from using it befor that there is codes to start it and to draw a line a certain length so just the very basics is all i looking for

well it's not too hard if you can remember the X,Y axis co-ordinate maths from school.
you know where you enter 0,0 as the starting point and 100,0 would make a line going from each point.

just mess around for a while and you'll be surprised how fast you'll pick it up.

If you are here reading this the chances are you already know the basics. File systems, file management are the basics, then its all down to whatever field you hope to use your CAD skills in. CAD (autocad in particular) is a very basic programme and is therefore used across many different programmes. You will learn all the basics in the course, and then develop them further depending on how or where you use them

you don't really need many skills before starting a CAD course, apart from knowing how to use a computer.
What kind of CAD course are you looking at?

ye but why are de askin question about dat stuff wen its dun 4 ay

A decent knowledge of Technical drawings is an advantage but not a must. These courses are very well catered to deal with all levels of knowledge. If you are partaking in a course it is probably a good idea to ensure that a City&Guilds cert is issued upon completion. This is the only cery that is trully accepted internationally. In these times of a recession it isn't a great idea to do a course and get a qualification that can't be used upon emigration.

Well you have to learn how to do it with the software....you won't be asked to whip out the old simpsons rule to work out irregular shaped pieces of land mathematically. There are 100's of commands you will learn in the course.
