Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Chelsea hanging on ....

Jaysus! Chelsea being down to 10 men is really highlighting Evertons lack of a striker as they have the ball/possesion in good areas but nobody to finish moves off.

this will probably end a draw because of it.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,252 ✭✭✭deisedevil

Well lets stop them before they get out onto the pitch so, it's clearly the only way,

If we are leaving it up to refs to protect players, when they are so inconsistent in their main job, i think the players are fooked

Ya fair enough, I know what ya mean. I just can't stand to watch players throw themselves into tackles with studs showing and risking breaking a players leg.

Ya Everton are ****in brutal by the way. Very little effort to make use of the extra player.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

nope offside? nope two hands were on the ball,

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,398 ✭✭✭MIN2511

    Wow Cech down....

anyone lip read what he was saying?

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 22,879 Mod ✭✭✭✭Bounty Hunter

infact after looking at the replay how did cech even get hurt?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,570 ✭✭✭✭Frisbee

If the assistant gave it for offside it was very close.

If he gave it for Cech having two hands on the ball it was a fantastic decision.

Well i know what you mean too, i hate what you described there, but i also dont like to see players being punished for commitment, there are better cases for this, this one was close to the line - and thats why we are differing our opinions,

    So close for Everton,

looks like it's going to finish 0-0

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,398 ✭✭✭MIN2511

Meh... if that wasn't a goal someone should have paid the price!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,252 ✭✭✭deisedevil

There was shag all wrong with Cech there. Playing the sympathy card if you ask me.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,792 ✭✭✭✭JPA

    Black Jerseys are weird.

For me, thats the type of tackle that breaks legs, as such, its dangerous play, a red card. I don't think you can have huge complaints, although I think one could argue that it was reckless rather than malicious.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,580 ✭✭✭uberwolf

offside, which is a remarkably close call. For my money Cech had it under control, but with two players in on it, you couldn't call who knocked it out (edit - from the refs vantage point)

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,692 ✭✭✭✭OPENROAD

    Craig Burley is brutal!!

I can't believe Liverpool are going to be top of the league at Christmas...

Exactly. Red cards don't have to be for malicious or intentional fouls.

Anyone know what the record is of teams that are top at Christamas?

Man utd must be loving this, while they have been off winning the WCC all their title rivals continue to drop points

they said that 3 of the last 4 teams top at christmass won the league that year. The 1 that didnt is your very own Arsenal

I can't believe United are only 1 point off the pace at Christmas, just can't believe it. All things considered, I'm very very happy with it. Thank god Chelsea are not in front that much :)

3 of the last 4 have ended up wining the league.

Its turned out to be a good weekend for Man Utd with the Big three all dropping points. If we win our two in hand we are only a point behind Liverpool. Nobody wants to win this league !

    Everton should have won!

Drogba didn't make any difference, Anelka should have been left to play

Happy days from a Man Utd point of view.

    Here is Terry's Redcard

the commentators actually said he had a knock and that it wasnt that Scolari just wanted Drogba on

already won the games in hand have you?

I'm really nit-picking here, but 2 minutes of injury time is one of the most ludicrous things i've ever seen.

If you watch that and don't think it's a red card then, well, I don't know.

if Everton had a centre forward fit id say they woulda won that match

    Liverpool 39 points.
    Man Utd 32 points.

    am i missing something?
or are you just presuming that Utd will win all their games in hand?
if you are presuming that, wat about Utds form leads you to that conclusion?

    Extreme arrogance tbh.

We are hoping we win all our games at hand :D

    Wishful thinking....

    Setanta seem very intrusive.
Talking to Scolari going down the tunnel, talking to Cudicini on the bench.

I guess it makes a change that we are talking about Man Utd and games in hand. How many seasons have we sat here reading pool fans saying, well we are really only 4 points behind because we have 2 games in hand

exactly my point Aquos, when Liverpool fans have said that in the past, Utd fans slated em for it, and they often proved to be right. simply returning the favour.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,398 ✭✭✭MIN2511

What is wrong with Drogba? This season he hasn't played well.... maybe its time to sell him

Another point is that them games in hand wont be completed until many weeks from now and things could totally of changed by then.

    Injured, not fit, not playing.
Needs to be playing to get back in to his stride.

Your dead right Mr Alan. Glad to see the top two lose points but won't be counting any chickens. Man Utd aren't their best and I'm just hoping we start to hit form and capitalise. Having played in the WCC isn't going to have helped, it's going to be earned the hard way if we make good on those games in hand.

Have those games in hand been scheduled yet? Anyone know when we're due to play them, that could be very important.

in fairness he said united are 1 point 'off the pace', which is different to saying united are are only 1 point from the top of the table

The pace is 37 points from 16. United have 32 from 16.
